okay - Edit
Good price and good amount of food for 10$ but this has to he to be the oiliest food I've ever eaten despite It being noodle /rice tofu and vege based I'm not sure it's still low fat with the sheer amount of oil dripping off the food

The place to eat - Edit
I took "a little bit of everything", as I could not choose 😆
Read moreEverything was good, well seasoned (but not spicy) and with a good serving even if I asked a little portion of rice.
Pros: The food diversity, The seasoning
Cons: Maybe add some spices to add ourselves toour plate

Pure and simple - Edit
I was impressed with the amount of food for the price. I ordered a bit of everything (except the pumpkin dish) with Hokkien noodles and it was less than $18. The food was not mind-blowing but some of the dishes were nice and it was a satisfying lunch. Seems like a place to come for a simple, healthy and affordable meal in Adelaide. I also love the no-frills ambience of the old food court An extra star for being a small, genuinely vegan family business.

My favourite food in Adelaide - Edit
Everything about Pure Vegetarian is perfect. The food is so cheap considering the portion sizes and all of the food is fantastic, including the desserts. It’s a shame I live an hour away from the CBD because otherwise I would go here everyday

So lovely to have a veg option in Chinatown. Often can be a meat heavy area. I had the three dish option for $13, it was a huge feed. I had noodles, eggplant, tofu stir fry and sweet and sour mock meat. The eggplant in particular was delicious. Will visit again to try more of the options.

Cheap and tasty - Edit
The first time I ate here I was a teenager in the late 90's. The menu is still exactly the same well over 20 years on. The food is good - even without the use of garlic and onion (owners are buddhist). The eggplant is my favourite, the curry is great as is the broccoli - actually I've tried everything over the years and I've never been disappointed. Great serving size for the money. Desserts are also available but I'm normally too full to consider trying anything! One thing I will say is that they are consistent with the food - any menu that stays the same for that long must be doing something right! This place always hits me with nostalgic feels. Warm soy drink please. :)

Very fast cafeteria-style meal. It's in a food court in Chinatown near the entrance. You get at least 6 dishes to choose from plus rice Or noodles and they have dessert options too. The seaweed covered bean curd (their 'fish') is brilliant!

Visited Pure Vegetarian with some friends after shopping in Central Markets and was so surprised by the variety of food on offer and the price for a meal was amazing!! I remember the vegan fish was particularly nice, the portion sizes were great and it was so sweet to get a soy milk drink with the deal.

Chinatown/Central Markets Favourite - Edit
Located inside the main Central Markets/Chinatown food court, Pure Vegetarian is a word-of-mouth local favourite. I came across the stall after a Central Markets fresh food run whilst looking through the food court dining options. Although there are a lot of wonderful stalls in the main food court area, Pure Vegetarian is a stand out for me as they boast a huge array of vegan options to choose from... and guess what - you can try all of it for just $13!!!
Read moreI have been coming back to this stall since, usually at least once a month after visiting the markets. The owners are great, friendly people. I believe it is a family run joint and sometime it’ll be their son (I think) at the stall. Either way, customer service is always top notch. But when it’s the older gentleman, he always gives us just a bit extra and it’s always appreciated!
I recommend the fried fish and the eggplant, both go so well together with freshly made rice. My partner also loves the fried fish but his other favourite is the sweet and sour pork, which also goes great with rice. You also have the option to pair your choices with noodles. The thinner glass noodles are my go-to.
As I mentioned, you can actually try a bit of everything in the hot food bar options. If it is your first time visiting, definitely choose that. You will not be disappointed and you can then pick your favourites out for next time.
The serving is huge, both when doing take-away or dining in. You can probably buy one serving and share it with at least another person.
It is budget friendly and affordable for a lot of people. A family of four can honestly order two big plates and be full from it.
The food court area generally is filled with a lot of people, depending on what time you are visiting. It’s a nice social atmosphere though and I never have a problem when eating with others or alone. If you’d like though, you can order yours to take away and find a nice park to sit and eat at.
I highly recommend this stall to both locals and visitors to Adelaide. Small businesses such as Pure Vegetarian deserves all the good reviews and support from the community.
Why not give them a visit today, you might find your new favourite local stall.
