Loved the vegan enchiladas and vegan tacos. Imo the Tempe tacos were better than the cauliflower tempura ones, but I liked both. And the enchiladas were so good. Not as expensive as it could be for Antwerp, but not cheap either, we paid 110e for a dinner for 4 ppl.

Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. We had to wait nearly two hours for our food while sitting outside in the cold — definitely not a pleasant experience.

Pura Vida is no longer a vegan restaurant, as they now also serve meat dishes such as beef and chicken.

I used to come here 2x a year. But since 2026 they are serving (A LOT) of meat. Which means: less vegan dishes. The quality is only going downhill since last year. If you order a taco: it’s a taco, some coriander and fake meat (no sauce or onion..). They nachos are still good. I loved this place in 2024, but I’m not sure I would recommend it now.

The food was very good but we did have to wait almost an hour to get it - the restaurant was very busy. Luckily we were not in a hurry. It was not cheap but we found most places to be quite expensive in Belgium.

I'm only really familiar with two other Mexican restaurants (not counting Club Mexicana in London which I haven't been to for years because I was so disappointed in it), and they're both in Poland. So I appreciate that I'm hardly an authority on this cuisine. Seeing as this restaurant is in Not-Brussels I was prepared for it to be quite poor, but I was mistaken. It's still my third favourite Mexican restaurant, but it's actually pretty good. The carnitas tacos are served with lettuce which makes them taste like burgers, and the virgin mojito tasted like sparkling water. But apart from that everything was great. I personally prefer cinnamon sugar on churros and I think crushed Oreos is a little passé, but the actual fried sticks were done perfectly well and I appreciate that this could be a matter of taste rather that strict culinary principle. All in all I recommend.

Read moreIk heb helaas kort nadat ik hier heb gegeten (1,5u erna) voedselvergiftiging opgelopen. Daardoor heb ik een one-night-only theatershow moeten missen en de gehele situatie was voor mij extra ingrijpend omdat ik afhankelijk ben van anti-epileptica mediactie. Toen ik het restaurant hierover informeerde (na 3 pogingen kreeg ik pas reactie) kreeg ik een antwoord die ik niet eens als een oprechte verontschuldiging kan interpreteren: "spijtig om te horen en áls dat van ons kwam onze excuses". Er is mij ook geen enkele vorm van compensatie aangeboden voor de gemiste avond. Twee sterren vanwege het veganistische concept, maar ik zou deze tent absoluut vermijden.

If you are looking for a relaxed spot with great Mexican food, look no further. It’s affordable and delicious. The owner is super friendly. It does sometimes gets a tiny bit chaotic when very busy but they always sort it out and do their best.

I feel bad for giving 3 stars. The place was lovely and service as well. We had high expectations for the food but the only good thing were the esquites and the spicy oil (which I think was supposed to be salsa?). The tacos and the chilaquiles were surprisingly bland. If the food was better I wouldn't have minded paying the prices we paid, but for the food that it is its quite expensive.

Read moreOn the day we arrived, we were just looking for something quick to eat in the evening and luckily, this restaurant was close to our hotel. It turned out to be so good that we went back again before we left the city.
The restaurant is quite spacious, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It’s decorated in a traditional Mexican style and has a super friendly vibe. You can tell the team enjoys working there - several staff members were dancing, singing along to the music, and even whistling behind the counter, which created a very open and welcoming atmosphere.
We ordered a burrito and a gringa, both with homemade seitan, which was absolutely delicious. I can’t handle spicy food at all, so I asked if it was possible to leave out the spicy elements, and it was no problem at all. But if you love spice, they have a special hot sauce you can get on the side - my friend tried it and loved it.
For dessert, I was excited to try churros for the first time, especially because they offer options with Oreo and speculoos cream. Unfortunately, the kitchen initially forgot and brought me “just” regular churros. I decided to eat them anyway, thinking the sauces might be too sweet for me. But the server was so attentive - she brought the sauces out to me afterwards, going out of her way to make things right, even though I told her it wasn’t necessary. That was incredibly kind and really left a great impression.
During our second visit, my friend tried a burger, which was also delicious. Overall, everything we tasted was fresh, well-prepared, beautifully presented, and often came with a small side salad and nachos.
Wonderful place, amazing people working there, and I’d definitely go back. Big recommendation for tasty vegan Mexican food in Antwerp!

Refused to serve us tap water - Edit
We came here for lunch today. We ordered our food and asked for some tap water. The waiter said they didn't serve tap water and that we had to order bottled water. I fundamentally disagree with bottled water as all that plastic is unnecessary and is utterly terrible for the environment. I thought a vegan place would care more about the planet and not just focus on profits. We cancelled our order and left. Such a shame as the menu looked pretty good.
