Great Dishes

Moved from Canal Road to this much more pleasant outdoor setting right before the night safari. The menu is huge and the dishes are very authentic and tasty. However, they are closed at the moment and am not sure what will happen in the future.

great food, lovely green hide away

We live nearby and was delighted to finally find a vegetarian restaurant nearby. The food tasted really fresh and tasty. Eggs and dairy are clearly marked and they were very accommodating to other requests like no mushroom and onion in the dishes. All at a great price.

Really good!

Don't be put off by the atmosphere. It's dull green concrete. No decorations. Food is really tasty, served without much finesse but considering the price probably some of the best you can get in Chiang Mai.

Pros: organic

Nice hideout with quality food

I ate at this Pun Pun (near the intersection of 121 and Suthep road, there is also an other one in town) four times on my trip to CM.
The same guy was always the waiter, and then there were young kids helping him. He was really nice, helpful and understood a bit of English.
My favourite was the pineaple curry, in addition to which I also tried a few other dishes, but don't remember any more which were they. They have some weir tofu-based stuff on their menu that my friends who tried them didn't like. The green papaya salad (spicy) was also good. Had that every time also. The beetroot juice was not good. I saw them make it so it was fresh, but it tasted a bit too much like dirt for my liking.
Rice portions are ridiculously small. I ordered five every time straight away.
They don't have the traditional sticky-rice-mango, but other similar dessert.
Price is very cheap, half of what you pay at AUM.
No wifi.
Toile ok.

Pros: Price, Taste, Staff

Cons: No sticky-rice-mango, No wifi

Great food but...

Food here was great, however they have a ton of dairy, eggs, and honey. I especially liked their somtam and pad Thai. I understand that they harvest their own animal products but still feel it's hypocritical to label this as health food.

Pros: Great food

Cons: dairy, eggs and honey

Gourmet Amazing Food

Although the ambiance of this restaurant is very bland and the decor looks like a construction site, the food is some of the best Thai food you will ever eat, or perhaps one of the best meals you will ever eat. We ordered 5 dishes, including a pad thai and a papaya salad, and the best way to describe what I just ate is perfection.

Balanced flavors, perfectly spiced, and outstanding presentation. If in Chiang Mai, please do not kiss this place. You will love it!

Pros: absolutely amazing food

Cons: bland decor

Some of the best veg food in Thailand

Recognized as one of the best in the world in some publications. Unfortunately this location moved from CMU to an unattractive location down a small soi just after the corner market on Canal Rd south of Suthep Rd. Their salads and soups are excellent and quite hearty, though the curries are disappointingly bland and the stir fries are kind of average. All meals are quite healthy and fresh though. You'll pay 50-90thb for all the dishes and for the quality that's a steal. One of my mainstays, just wish they hadn't moved locations. The restaurant at Suan Dok temple also moved several months back to a less beautiful spot. Too bad.

Pros: Healthy delicious salads and soups, Head chef/owner (?) is wonderfully kind, Excellent value

Cons: Locations lack charm, Curries/stir fries aren't great
