Wonderful - Edit
This place deserves way better reviews! There are very few places in Edinburgh to eat vegan food as good as this. We tried two of the excellent salads and the vegan chilli. We loved that they were packed full of nutrition and incredibly flavourful. The vegan raw cheesecakes were also excellent - especially the chocolate orange. The lady serving was very friendly and quick.
Pros: All vegan and gluten-free, Everything tastes awesome and fresh, Friendly staff
Cons: None

Nice little vegan cafe near Grassmarket - Edit
This cafe is right near Grassmarket so there's lots to see. They had two hot options and my partner and I got each type - spicy corn soup which was very warming and but not at all spicy - and the vegan ramen which had quinoa instead of noodles as it's all gluten-free. The ramen was nice and healthy. They have lots of different non dairy milks so I tried hazelnut with my tea which was nice. My partner got a green smoothie which he enjoyed. They also have ready to go meals you can pick up such as a burrito bowl and salads.
Pros: All vegan, Sells vegan snack foods as well
Cons: Not much of a menu, they just rotate different hot

Great Coffee - Edit
Popped in to try a speciality coffee - i.e. Non-Dairy.
Didn't have a clue what to choose and was given some really different options by the great member of staff who was more than happy to help.
Tried a Hazelnut Milk Latte and a Soya Latte - both nice particularly the Soya which was not like the high street brand offerings.
Dog friendly, smiley staff and great coffee. A perfect start to the day

Terrible coffee and rude staff - Edit
I was delighted to find a totally vegan cafe on my trip to Edinburgh. Ordered two coffees for myself and my boyfriend, mine was a flat white, and was quite weak but tasted fine. My boyfriends americano on the other hand was basically coffee flavoured water with a hint of dirt. I brought it back and was very polite about asking if it was possible to get a stronger one, the girl offered no apologies and said she'd make one in a smaller cup so it would be stronger but looked super annoyed. So the other girl brought it down and planted it on the table without a word and stormed off. The coffee was just as terrible 😂 I went up to pay and my card was taken and given back with no word or eye contact. I'm retrospect it was hilarious how they have no concept of customer service, or know how to make a coffee. The two staff members basically acted like teenagers throwing a strop because a coffee was returned!
Pros: everything is vegan
Cons: they can't make coffee and the staff can't

RalphieBoy 21 Jan 2017 - Did you tell the staff when you were paying that you weren't happy?
Having been there a few times I'd bet that if you'd told them you, sorry your boyfriend didn't like the coffee, you'd have seen a service recovery.
Give them a chance, don't just post?

Nice! - Edit
The opening hours are a bit odd, but the place is very nice!
We had raw salads and a peanut raw bite which were both very good and the coffee was probably the best coffee I ever had!

The capital of bland land - Edit
I haven't paid for many worse meals than this since turning vegan. Me and my partner got two salads and two cakes to takeaway.
Both the salads were virtually undressed so everything lacked flavour. The interesting sounding pesto dressed courgette spaghetti was basically raw courgette: no noticeable basil, no seasoning, a hint of lemon. This theme continued throughout, it was 'health' food at its absolute worst. Still, it got worse as the avocado in the other salad was rock solid. Barely half the salads got eaten and we were pretty hungry...
The cakes were alright.
Pros: Ummm... Okay cakes
Cons: Lack of flavour , Not cheap, Underripe avocado

perfect coffe date - Edit
Have had lunch here and returned for a sweet little coffe & cake date a few days later with the same friend - we loved it that much! Such friendly staff, gorgeous atmosphere, tasty treats. Matcha latte was gorgeous. Excited to see the menu grow when more lunch and warm food options come in! Definitely a place to visit 👼🏼🌺🤗🌷🌿

Flavorless food - Edit
We went to Pumpkin Brown for a snack and had two salads and two homemade drinks. The food looked lovely but lacked flavour.
The staff was friendly though, and the place has a nice flair.
Pros: location, friendly staff
Cons: flavourless salads

Horrendous representation of Vegan food. - Edit
We ordered a variety of food after a long trek and a lot of anticipation regarding our first visit to the very popular and eclectic health food café- the plethora of disappointment consisted of two extremely overdue orange/cayenne pepper juices, a congealed and clearly expired chia pudding, cauliflower and rice salad with bone dry kale and once again a dressing that seemed to have thickened and stuck to the lid with age. Pumpkin Browns goal must be to put people off the idea of vegan food, because I have never known any so bad.
Pros: When we complained they did indeed refund our mone

Pumpkin Brown - Edit
New vegan eatery in downtown Edinburgh, that's a goody!
The food choices are limited as others have pointed out already. Basically you can choose between some salads and some small breakfast cups containing Bircher muesli or some chia seed mixture and raw cakes. In addition to that you can get a hot dish, nothing fancy but all right and filling.
On top of that good coffee and good music.
Overall nice place! I hope they stay in business and I wish them all the very best!

good desserts - Edit
They desserts were very good. The take away meals were ok. Still great option considering that you have only 2 100% vegan restaurants in Edinburgh (August 2016).

Great for a quick bite - Edit
Selection of food was brilliant, the rice bowls were delicious. The chocolate orange cheesecake was amazing. The coconut milk cappucino was one of the nicest coffees I've ever had. However, the coffee was TINY and pricey. It cost a normal coffee size but came out miniature. The cheesecake was a good size but the salad rice bowls could have been bigger.
Staff were very accommodating and had good knowledge about their products. The seating inside was very small, only two tables, many people arrived but left when they realised they had nowhere to sit. With a bit of rearranging, they could fit more seats inside.
Overall, a really nice place if you manage to get a seat and have the money to spare.
Pros: Delicious food, Great coffee, Good location
Cons: Portion size, Lack of seating, Bit pricey

Awesome! - Edit
Quite pricey, but oh so delicious. I loveeeed the refined sugar free aspect as I could chose anything! Mocha chocolate cheesecake was divine and veggie satay unreal.. Mainly salads and drinks when we went but I luckily liked the other things on sale that day! Get small portions but they are filling!
Pros: All vegan, Refined sugar free, Good options
Cons: Quite expensive

Great coffee; could do more food - Edit
I've been here for a very good coffee (coconut milk latte - amazing) but wasn't blown away by their food options. Hopefully as they are new they will be extending their range as they're in a fantastic location.
Pros: Wonderful coffee, Great location
Cons: Limited food choices

Alright - Edit
Not a lot of choice for food. I had a cauliflower and kale salad and my friend had an avocado salad. Kind of expensive for a smallish box and the dressing wasn't very nice. Always glad to try a new place but probably won't be back.
Pros: Good selection of vegan desserts, Friendly staff, Central location
Cons: Not a lot of choice, Slightly overpriced, Not much seasoning/spices

Proper coffee! - Edit
Stopped by for coffee before a Fringe Festival show next door. The description of "artisanal coffee" is actually well deserved here. Just beware of some of their funkier creations - we weren't fans of their coconut milk flat white (but the soy version was just great). Wouldn't mind trying their turmeric or matcha lattes next time.
Limited food choices as others have said, but all very creative and veggie/vegan.
Pros: Truly good quality coffee
Cons: Expensive at £3 for a coffee

not much on offer - Edit
There's a couple of places on the Grassmarket offering more choice for a vegan than Pumpkin Brown. We dropped in and saw nothing we fancied and chose a Graze salad box instead.

i had a quick stop in the new vegan kid in town and was pretty impressed,
i had a long black and a some raw vegan cheesecake. both were really good and i look forward to heading back soon. the selection of mains were all raw, and although not a massive variety they did look nice.
staff were really friendly and situated on the grassmarket i would hope it does really well.
Pros: location, vegan, raw
