Nice View... - Edit
My partner and I ate here today. It's good to find a place that's veg/vegan while travelling, especially overlooking the water. I ordered a Raw Salad, it was the most expensive salad so I thought it would be a big one. Unfortunately it was pretty small and a bit soggy.
My partner got some tacos, he wasn't that impressed by them and said the portion size was too small for the price.
I also got a mint lemonade, the mint needs to just be muddled (full leaf) in the lemonade not blended. That's just my preference though.
All in all, it wasn't horrible but I can imagine these guys with their great location improving as they go.

Why can't I leave 1 star? (or none) - Edit
Seriously so bad. [edit by staff] The menu had nothing labelled as vegan but had the HappyCow logo on it which it really should not. Beyond the resturaunts control I guess but it's next to a diving school where we sat right next to horrible people (I'm from New York City so it takes A LOT for me to notice that type of thing) getting wasted, eating street kabobs saying 'no one should ever go veggie', and having generally obnoxious & crass conversation. The waitress was really clueless & unhelpful. Out of 3 sandwich options, they didn't have the one I wanted. No kombucha either so I got lemonade which was supposed to have mint in it but had some nasty dried green...stuff I don't even know what. I asked the waitress if the other sandwich options were vegan and she said it depended on the bread...ok? She said the cornbread was ok but I couldn't have pita, ciabatta or tortillas so I made her go ask because that makes NO sense. I got the tortilla option (surprise...she found out those were vegan, also what is in the pita? Vegan doesn't mean GF...) and what I got was 3 tiny wet? corn tortillas with basically baby food compost mush. The flavors were nasty. We went to go pay and our waitress had disappeared and the cashier had no clue what we had. This place is an absolute MESS.
Pros: Ocean view
Cons: Literally everything else

Great veg alternative - Edit
This place can look a little bit hidden as it's not on the main road of Puerto Viejo but it's worth the visit. They have a really good menu and the food is very tasty.
Might be a little pricey for the size of the portion, but most of Puerto Viejo is already like this.

The most extensive veg menu in town & great taste - Edit
Have you ever had a "smoothie" with fresh coconut water and coconut meat with aloe vera, mint , turmeric, ginger and avocado? well it tastes great, specially with the fresh ingredients. Here at pirata deli, they allow you to create your own or chose from their extensive menu, this combo you might guess, yes I created my own :)
If you are hungry you will get very generous portions here as well, plus they have an Ayurvedic menu section.
Highly recommended
Pros: Many options, Generous portions, Delicious
