One of the best options for vegan in Ames - Edit
There’s not a lot of vegan options in Ames, it seems (excluding chains). Giving it a 4 stars based on that alone - I ordered online so that limited me to the vegan quinoa burger only (the only thing listed as vegan) & the vegan blueberry cake. The burger was pretty okay but the house salad was very blah. It was lettuce with a couple sunflower seeds and they just gave me olive oil for a dressing.

I can recommend - Edit
Beautiful restaurant and friendly staff! I tried the vegan burger and quinoa kale salad both were great! They had a vegan chocolate hazelnut cake that was delicious!

Very nice Ames restaurant. - Edit
Several labeled vegetarian and vegan options. Very nice environment and friendly and professional waitstaff. Weekend brunch menu is paired down from the online breakfast/lunch menu.

Great Food, Great Service - Edit
My wife and I were searching for a restaurant with a few vegan options and we settled on Provisions. Ames has a few restaurants that offer vegan options, but selection is usually limited to one or two options. By contrast I think I counted 6 vegan options on Provisions menu.
Read moreThe atmosphere in the restaurant is pretty good date night material. If you're looking for something I little more intimate, I also recommend The Cafe in North Ames.
Concerning service, our experience was great. The wait staff were enthusiastic and helpful and everything was brought to our table promptly.
My wife enjoyed the phenomenal Brussels Sprout Salad, the toasted sprouts that topped the salad were the proverbial icing on the cake. I ordered the Vegan Tamale which was so much more than I expected. Not only was the Tamale itself delicious but it was accompanied by a variety of sauces and foams that made the whole meal sing.
If your looking for something new around Ames and haven't tried Provisions, you should give it a shot!
Pros: Good Service, Great Food, Atmosphere
