Fantastic food

Visited on a weekend away. Nice atmosphere, dog friendly and excellent food. Particular highlights were the thyme and garlic fries and the tofish tacos, but it was all tasty. Would definitely eat here again if visiting Nottingham

Pros: Dog friendly, Good beer

Great food!

I visited on the day the cafe opened and several times since and it’s always a pleasure to visit. The food is cooked/prepared fresh, you can see them making your food at the counter. They have a good selection available on the menu with choices to satisfy everyone. The staff are welcoming, remembering me from my first visit and give a friendly welcome. Parking on street outside is a bonus (it is payable).

Edit: now located in a pub, cafe has now closed.

Decent quality

Nicely presented and good quality but the Sunday dinner was just not quite to my taste. I’ll try different food next time.

Great roasts

We had a great Sunday roast here recently which is likely to become a regular event. Hearty and healthy at the same time.

Completely disappointed

Always wanted to visit prickly pear. Instagram posts always show off amazing food and a friend of mine recommended as well.

But the food we received was so poor. My bun wasn't toasted like it says on the menu. My seitan burger wasnt particularly tasty, the picked onions were way too overpowering. The BBQ sauce was so little compared to what the menu seemed to say it would be.

My partner's wrap was always average and again not toasted. Fries were ok.

The Mac and cheese as you can see in the photo was so dry, which was really off putting.

I'm honestly shocked at the meal. We spent about 45 quid which honestly was super disappointing for what we received.

I don't know if this was just an off day or what but sadly I won't be returning even though the staff who served us were lovely!

Beautiful brunch

I have been eating at Prickly Pear for years, but I think this has been my favourite dish! It was huge! My daughter had the facon pancakes, she isn't vegan but she said they were fab.

Fully vegan pub!

Fully vegan bar and kitchen, lovely atmosphere and great food!
I've eaten here loads and definitely recommend the tofish tacos! But today they had a 'specials' board up which is always good to check out (it was quesadilla today which was incredible) a lot of their food has a fresh homemade and 'healthy' feel while still satisfying the 'pub grub' itch 😁

Pros: Great food, Lots of options, Lovely staff

Friendly place with a nice vibe. Brilliant vegan junk food. We all loved our burgers and loaded fries and mac 'n' cheese! We want to go back to try the vegan brunch some time!

Pros: 100% vegan, Friendly service, Great food

Worthy of an odyssey

Incredible food - had the O’ Holy Smoke burger with roast potatoes and gravy from their Christmas menu. A cosy old pub with a modern twist.

Pros: Great food, Cozy atmosphere, Dog friendly

Chill vibes & great food :)

Pub with delish food - what do you want more. Rock vibes, friendly staff and awesome food.
Huge menu - it was so hard for me to pick an option but went with a blue cheese burger with caramelized onions and thyme & garlic fries. Fries hit the right spot (I was slightly hanging). Crispy, coated in spices covered in sauce. The burger was a total bang too. Something different to usual vegan burgers. Totally recommend if you look for chilled vibes, some nice bevies and of course - heavy, yummy food.
Oh and easy access to sockets! I was travelling, so to be able to charge my phone without bothering the staff was a massive help😄

Pros: Friendly staff, Chilled atmosphere, Rock music

Very good selection

My friend and I split the fish and chips and battered sausage and chips. Both of the dishes were delicious. They had lots more on the menu at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend going there, and I would love to try the other dishes.

So happy this place exists

Super lovely, all vegan pub. Staff is very friendly and treat both customers and each other with kindness. The food is amazing, everything is a little bit on the naughty side, so I'd love to have a slightly more wholesome, healthy option on the menu (but would it still be pub food if it was healthy? ;)). That's the only thing I'd change though! So happy that Prickly Pear's food gets to live on in the Golden Fleece 🙏
P.S. the chips were the best we've had in a long time!!

Pros: Awesome food, Lovely staff, Cosy atmosphere

Menu was impressive but the food was lacking

Massive menu with lots of options for brunch, sides, bowls and burgers. Had the breakfast nachos which was very inventive and looked nice but was lacking in taste. Mac and cheese lacking in flavour too. My partner had the breakfast burger which was fine. The best thing we got was the battered sausage side!! It was very tasty and the curry sauce it came with was delicious. I would go back to try more things.

Dirty filthy room not fit to stay in!

I booked a room through Airbnb for my partner and I on Saturday June 10th. When we arrived there was a piece of cardboard replacing a smashed out window. The room was dusty and filthy and there was a stained mattress with no protector. It was so gross we didn’t stay and went home. The owner Marc has been nothing but rude refusing to refund me instead blaming us for not asking for the room to be cleaned. Who does that? Don’t stay there whatever you do.

Cons: Dirty, Rude owner, In need of repair

Decent place

It’s a nice place with good food but I don’t think the food is the best, just okay imo. The burgers, Mac and cheese and kebab are nice, not amazing, but didn’t enjoy the nachos as much.

Edit: I had the jerk fries and they were amazing, not jerk but periperi, vegan breakfast was really good too. Breakfast burrito was mid. Mocha with oat milk is very good

Lovely pub

Was in the area and popped in for something to eat. Was pleasantly surprised to find a fully vegan pub. Had a Sunday roast, also a pleasant surprise to find alcohol free lager on tap rather than just your standard bottles of becks blue. The staff were friendly and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. Would love to go back in the evening sometime.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff

Very quick service on a Sunday.
A nice sounding menu.
We both had the Sunday roast.
It arrived and looked nice.
But it was average unfortunately nothing special. All well cooked but average run of the mill veg potatoes, cabbage , broccoli and carrots.
Yorkshire puddings very doughy better as a pudding.
Even something like cauliflower cheese/ parsnips added then I would have been very happy.

We would visit again but choose something different from the menu. Had better vegan Sunday lunch at non gluten free places.
