Best Plant-based curries

Real authentic family comfort food! Special spices, bring back the vegan butter-chicken !
But otherwise love the butter bean curry and naans 🌱

Pros: Butter bean curry, Korma curry, Garlic naan

Cons: Not fully plant-based , (go plant-based prashad!)

One of Yorkshire's gems!

Not sure why I've not reviewed Prashad before as I've been enjoying this gorgeous restaurant since it opened many years ago.

The only way this could be better is if it was fully vegan.

The service is always spot on and the food is 👌

Pros: Dosa , Thali, Service

Life in a Northern Town

Prashad has been on the bucket list for 20 years. It was time to realise dream. Get over it you wet blanket. If you live anywhere in the North of England this is somewhere you must pay vegan pilgrimage to at some point in your life. I’m not going into descriptions, you can view my pictures (with helpful annotations unlike some). We picked up a take away on a late February Sunday evening after deciding to drive down around 85 miles. It was worth every penny of £70.15 and every ounce in E10 petroleum it took to get there. Enough food for 2 nights and even a small dosa breakfast the next day. This is a sensational place where every morsel you put into your mouth is a privilege. On the 7th Day…….

A real treat

Prashad has so many vegan dishes on the menu and will offer vegan versions of most of their vegetarian dishes too.

The food is absolutely delicious, always presented beautifully, and the flavours are very fresh and zingy.

I recommend the thali so that you don't have to struggle to decide what to choose from the menu!

This is the veggie and vegan place that has converted many a local carnivore.

Slightly pricey, but it's a real treat.

Best Indian I've ever had

The range of food available for vegans on this menu is amazing. All very high quality and extremely tasty. We had the taster starter which brings one of each starter and can be vegan or vegetarian. I then had a lentil, potato crepe in a coconut curry sauce and my partner had a vegetarian paneer.

Perfection

Gorgeous presentation, heavenly food, fantastic friendly knowledgeable service.
It doesn’t come much better than this. We hadn’t booked but they managed to squeeze us in for a quick bite (although everything is cooked fresh so no fast food here!)
Definitely recommend the tasting starters and pretty much everything on the menu if not vegan can be made to be. Love love love this place! If you’re in the area or know you’re going to be it’s a must to visit but to be on the safe side book.

Pros: Service

Absolute favourite!

This is my favourite local restaurant and try to go a few times a year. The vegan options are amazing. So different to other restaurants... if you think it's "just a curry" think again! You will be blown away by the flavours!

Expensive!

Okay, so it’s been a longtime since I visited prashad, even though it’s really close to my house. Now I remember why… the prices. I opted for the popadom and pickle try and a masala dosa. Pickles were great, all made in house and unusual and tasty flavours. Masala dosa was good too. I couldn’t resist the vegan rhubarb ice cream too, which was the highlight of the show. There is a whole load of different and interesting dishes on the menu if you have deep pockets. A vegan tasting menu for £62 a head etc.. service was a bit stiff, functional, needs a bit more enthusiasm.
I’ll probably leave it another 7 years before returning and stick with the cheaper, more comfortable options round town.

Unique dishes

I have been visiting Prashad since it was in Bradford. Its a great place with an interesting menu. I hate to say negative things about local businesses but it hasnt been as good the last couple of times. I think its more a result of covid or cost of living. Its a little expensive and yhe restaurant is looking a bit tired. On the plus side the food is always really tasty, the Thali was fantastic. I will continue to go on a regular basis. Hopefully it will return to the standard it was a few years ago. P.S the cookbooks are the best i have bought.

Pros: Tasty, unique, lovely staff

Not as I expected

After watching the Gordon show and hearing all the good reviews I was so excited to come here - especially as I’m such a huge fan of bundobust!
The service felt a little awkward as it was all done by young teenagers (which is totally fine) but they didn’t seem confident or excited about the food or service.
We got mixed vegan starters to share which were tasty!
I was a little disappointed with my main as it felt a bit underwhelming, however, my boyfriends dish was a lot more exciting.

Pros: Tasty starters

Cons: Unconfident staff, Expensive

Guaranteed

Buy the masala chips, they are incredible.
I eat here everytime I am in the area, but it's fairly pricey, so only once.

The food is good, but not, for me, exceptionally good.

Easily worth hunting out, tho', tasty vegan food. 7/10

The business

This is possibly the best Indian restaurant that I've ever eaten in and I have tried many. The food that we had was faultless. The restaurant is fully vegetarian anyway but a lot of the menu is vegan friendly also. We had a mixed vegan starter platter, to share between two, which was devine & then I had a vegan thali. There was quite a lot of food but I'm glad that we got the starters as they were amazing.

Do yourself a favour and go if you get chance.

Pros: Amazing food, Friendly staff, Lots of vegan options

Most authentic food I’ve had

Me and my partner drove from Stoke-on-Trent to try this place after seeing it on the Gordon Ramsey programme. We’d been wanting to go for a while but never got round to it so now that we had I was apprehensive that it would fall short of my expectations. I can confirm it absolutely did not! We shared the Methi Khandi Bhaji who h was essentially onion bhaji but it was the best onion Bhaji I’ve ever had. We also had the hara bara kebab which was a mashed pear and cauliflower kebab which I would absolutely recommend it was delicious, full of flavour. For the mains we had chole (chickpea curry) and masala dosa with rice and masala chips. It was all so authentically flavoured and I can not stress enough that this was the best Indian food I have ever tasted, and I’ve eaten a LOT of it. We read reviews where people said that “expensive mineral water” was pushed onto them, we were never offered this so this is seemingly false. The staff were all so lovely, food came fast and piping hot, the presentation was that of high end food, the atmosphere is nice and the decor is lovely. Some may see this as slightly more pricey than your average curry house, but it’s worth every penny. If you get chance to visit you should. I would do the long drive again 100%.

Pros: Authentic tasty food, Quick service , Friendly staff

Amazing takeaway

It was our wedding anniversary last weekend and so we decided to treat ourselves with a celebration at home. We've always wanted to go to Prashad and seeing on Facebook they were doing contactless collection for takeout, decided now would be the ideal time to support them. All of the food was absolutely incredible, and the ordering and contactless collection service was flawless. We've recommended to our friends and will definitely be back. If we want to visit these places when this is all over, we *must* support them now to get through this time when they will have much less business.

Pros: All Veggie and many vegan

Best Indian food I've ever had

The decor is gorgeous and feels very authentic and it's great that you're given a free vegan amuse-bouche to start the meal.

We tried a big variety of the vegan options and I cant imagine a way they could be improved. Even the meat-eaters we went with said they didnt feel a need for any meat in the dishes at all.

The only problem was with the service, we were sat for 15 minutes before even being given a menu and then it was even longer for our drink orders to be taken. The waiters also forgot some of our drinks orders as well as two of our dishes and then were adamant we hadn't ordered them in the first place.

Was such a shame because other times I've been the service has been spot on, hoping it was just a one off!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Very well priced , Delicious authentic food

Cons: Poor service
