It was OK - Edit
Based on other reviews we had to eat here. Maybe you have to ask for the lunch specials- there wasn't a menu for lunch specials but after we ordered I heard the other table ask and when we left we saw their table had a ton of food. We had two main dishes and the vegan lassi and our bill was $36. One of the dishes tasted amazing, the other was ok. We were the first in the door for lunch as the owners were unlocking and parking the cars, food was out within 7 minutes of ordering... I heard the microwave ding quite a bit as the food prep area is behind curtains. The owners were super nice and helpful. There was only one vegan dish with lentils and others with tofu for protein.
Pros: Vegan options clearly listed, Vegan lassi was delicious, Fast service...
Cons: Food seemed to be microwaved, Lunch was a lot more expensive than anticipated, Small menu

Prabha's Indian Garden - Edit
We happened on Prabha's Indian Restaurant and so happy that we did. They offer lunch specials for $7.99 between 11:00 am - 2:30 pm M-F. You can get 2 choices of various options with Basmati Rice. Friendly Staff and great value.
We will be visiting again when we visit Hilo. So Ono!!

Great Indian Food in Hilo! - Edit
I am vegan. I had the mango lassi, papaya salad and curry pumpkin! All dishes were well cooked, very nicely seasoned and delicious. The staff were pleasant and helpful, service was prompt. Cannot wait to return! The buffet is no longer!

Tasty and Pricey - sort of Vegan friendly - Edit
Not a bad little joint as far as things go. It is always nice to be able to eat in a veg restaurant, but it's always a little tough when the veg restaurant only gives vegans a few real options. That being said - the options available to vegans were very tasty - but - unfortunately - knowing the costs of vegan food - I would say this place is 1/3 over priced. Granted - it is in 'The Islands" where everything is more expensive.
As it goes - we only ate here once - then decided it was a way better deal to just shop at Abundant Life. But if you really just want to eat out without a lot of hassle and a few good vegan options, This is what the Island has to offer.
Pros: vegetarian, friendly folks, nice atmosphere
Cons: not enough vegan items, way too pricey for what you get

A winner - Edit
Being Indians, my wife and I were immensely pleased to have dined here. The flavors were well balanced in each dish and everything was garden fresh. We have dined at the best Indian restaurants in England and India. This tiny restaurant is up at the top of our all time favorites, and it is immaculate above all. The pumpkin curry is a dream. These folks are very nice and helpful. A little Shangrila in the middle of the Pacific.
Pros: Clean, Tasty, Friendly

Avoid - Edit
We went on a Thursday evening. Food was sitting out on buffet, and was cold. There were small ants on the buffet table.
You pay by weight, and fortunately, it's not expensive, because neither of us could finish our food. We've eaten in vegetarian Indian restaurants all over the world so we know what things are supposed to taste like (reliably tasty). This not only fell short, but actually was verging on inedible (especially what they are passing off as paneer).
We only eat out in vegetarian restaurants when we travel and so were really hoping to count on this place for two nights, but unfortunately we didn't dare go back and had to supplement our food that night as we couldn't count what we had been served as a meal!
We'd give this one star or less, but apparently Happy Cow only gives the lowest rating of two for vegetarian restaurants. (News to me, never given a rating this low before)
Pros: vegetarian on Big Island
Cons: food, ants

Great food - Edit
We were tired after a day of site seeing and so decided to try out and support this new restaurant instead of cooking. We are strict vegan and rather particular so this vegan restaurant fit the bill. Once we found it, no easy task, we enjoyed the hospitality and sincere intentions of the couple running it and the food was excellent. It is cafeteria style charged by weight, the Indian food was spicy and flavorful but not too hot and not too much oil, which we appreciated. Once they turned on the music the atmosphere improved a bit. We will return. We ate a lot for $27.
Pros: Good food, Good price, Friendly hosts
Cons: Difficult location, Somewhat austere atmosphere
