Great quick counter service option

Super filling portions, feels healthy and hearty and tasty. They also have stickers indicating they are LGBTQ friendly and a female owned business if I recall. Would go again

Pros: Inclusive, Healthy, Filling

Tasty food

The food was nice. We especially liked the vegan mozzarella balls. My food was only slightly warm and not really hot. Overall definitely tasty, would eat there again!
There were only three staff and they were very busy with take away orders so ordering and getting the food took a while.

What a disappointment

I used to like Pow Pow, but the quality has gone down lately. It's also disappointing that they discontinue the items i like. I used to like the plant shrimp, but that's gone. I liked the Powtine they used to have, but that's gone. They used to have a grain mix, but now they have fried rice instead that's got way too much broccoli. And while they now offer noodles, I'm not inclined to pay an extra $4 over the already-high prices to get it. The food items they do have are decent, but not worth the price. And now that they've discontinued my favorite wonton soup, I'm not inclined to go back.

Pros: all vegan, generous portions, near public transit

Cons: inconsistent menu availability, expensive for the type of restaurant

Awesome food!

The food was absolutely amazing!
The cauliflower wings were the best starters I had in a while.

Delicious

Their housing "beef" was so good. I'm sad that I'm full and can't finish my meal!

It was ok

They were out of a ton of things when I tried to order online including the signature egg rolls. I liked the trolley fries, but I got a bowl “Moms way” and it’s against what all these other reviews are saying but I thought it tasted too “healthy” for what I was craving. I think the rice is a brown rice? It doesn’t taste like the salty greasy food I’d expect when I order fried rice. So overall good not great

Really good food

With all choices being vegan, you can’t go wrong. If you’re so inclined, you can take your food to go and eat it at Franklin Park, across the street. You have to place your food order at a kiosk, not with a person, unless you are getting a beverage that’s not on their menu (in their cooler). Then you place the order with a person and pay at the register. I got the cauliflower appetizer and the Trinity bowl which was fantastic. I had half of each to take with, for another meal.

Pros: All vegan, Great tastes, Quick service

Cons: Not easy to ask questions as they are busy

Appetizers are king

The appetizers go hard: any of the egg rolls, fries, firecracker cauliflower. Basically all the junk is great.

The rice dishes are good, but boring. Fried rice, topped with meati (which i love) and a sauce. And they're sometimes out of noodle dishes which is a shame.

Experiences can differ

I’ve tried Pow Pow numerous times and every experience isn’t the same. I would give them five stars but sometimes their food is overly salty, almost to the point that it’s inedible. But then I’ve also had their food with no problems and it’s delicious. Thus the four stars. Favorite dishes include their trolley fries, fried mozzarella balls and general tsos.

Huge portions. Tasty

I got the steak bowl and the giant egg roll. Both were good. The giant egg roll really was huge, that could have been a meal on its own. It was really oily, but good. The steak bowl tasted like the "eat meati" brand but I'm not sure if it actually was, but it was really good also. Id recommend this spot for sure, but keep in my the portions are huge, so go hungry!

Pros: Huge portions

Cons: A little too oily

Fresh and flavorful

Delicious Asian bowls and rice dishes, was the perfect dinner after a full tourist day. We got the brussels sprouts, sticky sesame, and chicken teriyaki and everything was really great!

Pros: Lots of veg in the bowls, Very flavorful , All plant based

Cons: Not a ton of dessert options

Overrated, sorry

I went today. My first time was summer of 2023. I noticed I didn’t leave a HC review last year and wondered why. My visit today reminded me some of why — it’s just not that good. And I hate to hate on an all vegan place.

The issue is the food is just way too sugary and salty. And I’m an unhealthy junk food vegan. A member of my party said “the first bite is good but it just get sweeter and sweeter.” My whole party felt that way and said let’s never come back. We never say that about any place. And we arrived very hungry and ready to give it a try.

Also it’s pretty pricey.

Ambiance is mid.

Where I think they excel is the texture of the foods. It is very good and lots of variety.

Today they were completely out of noodles (!!). So not a single noodle dish was available.

To be clear we didn’t have any issues with service or any of that. But after two trips I’m writing this to remind myself not to go back. Plenty of better options around to try.

RECOMMENDATIONS: they should consider a sub menu of healthier options.

Pros: Good texture of dishes , Could satisfy a sloppy American meat eater

Cons: Very sugary , Very salty , Expensive

I'm just going by what the picture shows, and regardless of why you say it’s salty, you’re the one who went a second time?!

FieldRoaster...am l supposed to belive that? You can tell me that you were there, but am l supposed to believe that.

Highly recommend!

A must try! I wasn’t expecting much since this is fast casual and I can be picky with Asian food, but this is one of the best vegan Asian restaurants I’ve been to. Tried the sichuan dumplings, hoisin steak fried rice, chick’n fingers and generals chick’n - all were amazing!

Fresh and fast vegan food

I came here in my lunch break. They got my order out within five minutes. I got the chicken teriyaki fried rice bowl. I ordered double protein as well. I was a little disappointed with the portions for the protein. But the vegan chicken was absolutely delicious. They also didn’t put in the broccoli like it showed on the picture. They threw in a couple pineapple pieces as well which was a surprise. This place is pretty pricey, expect to spend at least $20 on a meal. But the quality of the food is pretty good.

Pros: Great food, Fast service

Cons: Small protein portion, Expensive

Scrumptious!

We had a great dinner at Pow Pow! The portions and prices were pretty decent too. Would definitely recommend going here, and especially ordering one of their rice or noodle bowls!

First Class Vegan eats

I have been to many vegan spots all around the world but I must say Pow Pow is in a class by itself. The food is so delicious that it is addictive. From the Disco Stick to the Trolly Fries. The food is top notch. This is a must visit.

Dan dan carbonara rocks

Also love their giant egg rolls, Korean angry noodles, etc. I do find their Natalie Portman one too sweet but maybe people like that.

Amazing!

We chose Pow Pow sort of randomly, it was near the White House and we were hungry for dinner. We are so glad we did! We had the midnight egg roll and the Buddha bowl. Best vegan we’ve had in DC! And to top it off we had the chimi chimi banana cocoa eggroll for dessert. Out of this world! And the best part was the man behind the counter was so friendly and helpful! We will certainly be back. Thank you Pow pow!

Lovely place for a quick bite

Went here because I was looking for a quick affordable bite, was not disappointed. Great food and friendly staff. Some of the dishes may be spicy and the menu won’t always say so.

Great food

Lovely food. Bowls and cauliflower. Not the best gyozas I’ve ever had but there’s plenty of other choices.
