Not only is Potpourri the only 100% vegan restaurant in Kassel, but also a cosy place to enjoy your breakfast, lunch or a piece of cake with your friends. I have been there twice so far and the food is super delicious, especially the apple-spelt cake. Can definitely recommend it!
The first vegan cafe in Kassel recently opened its doors! You can have breakfast, lunch and tea there. I went there two times for tea and once for breakfast.
They have outdoor and indoor seating. The cafe is nicely done up. There are regular stools and tables and one sofa indoors. Vegan books (food for thought) are available at a bookshelf. Freshly baked cakes are on display at the counter which is located at the entrance.
The slices of cake I got were huge. The chocolate cake was a bit too dry for my liking, but the chocolate tasted great. I also had a brownie which didn't taste like a brownie at all. It tasted like cocoa powder. The pineapple cake was very good. You really have to try their carrot cake. It is AMAZING and it is worth the trip alone just to eat a slice of it!
For breakfast you can choose between three options. All of them include rolls, bread and a mug of bean coffee (caf/decaf). They have jam, spread, peanut butter and chocolate spread. One option does include yoghurt with fruits. That is also the one which you can get for two people.
Since they don't sell grain coffee I tried the cocoa. It tasted very sweet and I liked it, but both times it was luke-warm.
They don't offer an alternative to soy milk (e.g. oat milk), which is a pity for people who suffer from allergies or just can't stand the taste of soy milk.
The lentil stew tasted great! You can get it even after lunchtime. They also do a chili, but i haven't tried it yet.
The staff was very friendly. I will definitly come back to check out the food they offer during lunchtime!
UPDATE:
Been there twice for tea since my last review: Now they do sell grain coffee and the cocoa is hot!
