Super expensive, inflexible and not great

What a downgrade this is from Felice. There are some vegetarian options, but can’t think of any good vegan options. It’s also incredibly expensive for what they’re offering. I’m comparison, L’Albatros has like one vegan entree that they hit out of the park, and it’s cheaper- with better service, ambience everything! Skip this place.

Pros: The house it’s in

Cons: Price, Extremely limited vegan options

Downgrade from Felice

I’ve been here three times they’ve opened. While their brunch when they first opened had a tofu option (and was unseasoned), since then the patio has had no significant options and last time, the only option was sweet potatoes (hold the aioli) that were burnt. The inside menu looks better but I shouldn’t have to sit inside just to have something edible.

Cons: No choices for vegans, Burnt

Farm to table vegan food

The atmosphere is quaint and the service is very nice. The food portions are small depending on which large vegan plate you get. I had the asparagus entree and it was just okay. One of the people at our table had the carrot vegan entree which was a larger portion but spicy. We tried the two vegan starters (a sugar snap tahini dish and a white bean hummus). The two starters far surpassed the entrees in flavor. We split the chocolate coconut rice pudding for dessert. It was very rich as the waiter told us it would be, but I’m not sure there was any rice in it.

Perfectly good

I like that Poppy has multiple vegan options and that they have a cheat sheet for dietary restrictions (though, apparently, these were all in use on the night I was there so I didn’t actually see one).
The menu is interesting and I appreciate that they make unusual food combinations even if they’re not entirely successful.

Pros: Interesting menu, Multiple vegan options , Friendly staff

Cons: Food not quite as good as I would have liked, Upstairs dining room quite noisy

Wonderful vegan options

We enjoyed a progressive meal of appetizer small plates, choosing vegan-ready appetizers including an artichoke heart option; another with squash; and finally, a bean purée with toasted bread. All were delicious. And there were others still to try. At lunchtime, the menu is higher priced, but full service; it totaled $58 for the 3 appetizers and no beverages. Service was ever present.
The restaurant, on Larchmere Road, is just a few blocks off of Shaker Square.
