Not a fan - Edit
I think it's great they make the vegan mozzarella in house, and everything is very hot and fresh. The pizza wasn't that flavorful and the oil they put on it is very odd. I think without the oil it would be a good snack. We ordered 4 pizzas and all 5 of didn't enjoy it to order again.

The first time I went here many years ago I was impressed with the in-house cashew cheese. The second time I went was a few months later and our pizza was greasy and just not quite as good. Today we went back and the food was quite “mid,” as the kids would say. The pizza was super oily, the crust was half burnt, and the vegan cheese had a slightly off-taste to it (my boyfriend thinks it tasted like coconut oil). I ordered the “garlic” focaccia and I’m not sure why it is even on the menu. It’s room temp bread with salt on top. I wouldn’t eat that if it was free at Olive Garden so I feel bamboozled having paid money for it.

Pizza - Edit
Really enjoyed their pizza! The cheese is a cashew based cheese made in house, it reminds me of ricotta. They had 2 vegan options on the menu: the Barry white and the vegan margherita. You could also build your own.

Great pizza! - Edit
I was visiting Durham for work and got into town late. Saw this pizza spot and grabbed a couple on the way to my Airbnb. Their vegan cheese was incredible and the garlic sauce they use was out of this world! Will definitely be back.

Can’t wait to come back! - Edit
Have several vegan options, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the food was delicious! I had a Margherita pizza and an Apple cider slushy. They even brought me vegan Parmesan topping for my pizza which I appreciated. I would recommend! I can’t wait to come back and try other vegan options!

Amazing vegan pizza! - Edit
Found this restaurant via Happy Cow and so glad I did, the best vegan pizza I’ve ever had! Great vegan friendly offerings with two types of vegan cheeses made in house, and frequently vegan dessert, too. Highly recommend the vegan pizza on menu, the Barry White.

Delicious! - Edit
Lots of options here. They serve real Italian style pizza, where the cheese is fresh mozzarella plopped strategically on the pizza, so sauce is visible. Not the shredded kind coating the entire pizza. They have one regular menu option that is vegan as-is, but you can sub cashew mozzarella on any pizza you want. They also have a vegan version of their gluten free crust too! It is much smaller than the regular crust, but it is nice to have the option.

Very vegan friendly. I’m not a huge pizza fan (I know, I know, I must not be human) but this pizza is crazy good. They make incredible vegan cheese and faux meats. We loved it so much that we asked if we could buy some and the chef was super accommodating. We got mozzarella and sausage made in house that we took home. Some of the best we’ve had! Update: we went back today and saw that there are many vegetarian options on the menu, but only 3 vegan options (clearly marked, which is always a plus) but they made a 4th option for us, despite the menu saying to substitutions. Great local salad, except it was mostly mustard greens w just a few baby butterhead lettuce leaves and pieces of red cabbage. Was confused by the fact that their hydroponic herbs & lettuce, fertilized by Koi tanks looked to be unpicked (all bolting full of leaves) which I thought was the idea of having them in the first place. The food and service was great, though.

Vegan pizza hit or miss - Edit
There is always a vegan pizza option here. I went for the first time during the Bull City Vegan challenge and they made a special pizza that was incredible. Their normal vegan pizza is the Barry White which has homemade vegan mozerrela...which I was so excited about but found to be awful and sour tasting. Cashew cheese sauce is pretty good though. They didn't let me add toppings to a menu pizza like their Vegan sausage. So, it's hot or miss there... Based in my first pizza there, it could be awesome! I'll try the make your own pizza option next time.

Amazing Vegan Pizza! - Edit
I had the Barry White, they make the vegan mozzarella and cashew cream in-house and the dough was fantastic. Also got the Kale salad and they were quick to point out that the included dressing had dairy and subbed a vegan dressing for me instead- very helpful! It was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had and they were super friendly.

Worst Pizza Ever - Edit
I have tried 3 different vegan pizzas and they were all terrible. The crust is tasteless and crumbly. Their vegan mozzarella has no flavor or texture; however, their desserts are absolutely the best I have ever had. Tried their s'more and their tiramisu. Absolutely heavenly.

Great Pizza - Edit
We were lucky to be on vacation here during Bull City Vegan challenge. Their entry to the competition was a vegan mascarpone & sautéd arugula. Awesome!! And we also had a make your own with house made sausage & mushrooms. Also wonderful. Their entry for dessert was a vegan tiramisu, divine. We consider ourselves lucky to be here for this event. Looking forward to eating tomorrow:)

Should be Five Star IMO - Edit
Fantastic, friendly, fast service. Food is excellent. The fact that my omnivore husband and I (Vegan) can both eat and enjoy a meal at the same place is always good. The Vegan mozzarella was excellent and the Vegan sausage was also excellent. The chef makes both in house and I’m extremely impressed. I would be thrilled if they would start a side line business selling their vegan cheeses and sausage so that I could use them in other recipes at home. The stuff I get at the grocery store doesn’t hold a candle to this. As for the fish tanks, I don’t have an issue with this since this is used as their aquaponics system, they are not overcrowded and their tanks are well maintained. The fish were obviously healthy and large, with tank size adequate for size and number of fish to size of tank ratio. The types of fish were symbiotic in how they were paired for living arrangements too. They were very thoughtful about this and didn’t just throw it together haphazardly.

Not sure about this... - Edit
I totally appreciate vegan options but the vegan cheese is coconut based and not very good. The texture is great but the flavor kinda ruined the pizza. The Marinara pizza is great and they appear to be adding more menu options.

house-made fresh mozzarella - Edit
I love wood-fired pizza and i'm so glad we have a place to get a creative and tasty vegan pizza in downtown Durham! Chef Aaron is vegan and has been doing a nice job at getting creative vegan options on the menu and specials. He created a vegan fresh mozzarella that is delicious, and it is now on the permanent menu on the Vegan Margherita. The daily veggie special is often vegan. A recent special: Vegan dill béchamel base, sliced roasted red potatoes, fennel. Finished with cashew parmesan and Monte Iblei olive oil. yum!
Read moreupdate Sept 2017: in addition to their house-made vegan mozzarella added to the permanent menu, they also now have vegan house-made sausage as a topping option! It is delicious.
