Terrible

We have been there last week for a quick lunch. People are kind but food is horrible and terribly expensive.
We had Falafel and Hummus: Falafel were dry and tasteless, while hummus too watery and tastless too.
We had artichokes Jewish style but they were hard and dry, oily and absolutely different from the ones of the Jewish - Roman tradition. Also a portion of Code was terrible, dry and with a really bad taste. At the end of the story we had an exagerate bill. I absolutely not recommend the place to tourists as the experience we had was totally negative and our suggestion is to avoid the place and choose another one among the houndred possibilities around the Roman Ghetto. Please do not repeat our experience!

Ok option if you're in the area

This place doesn't specialise in veggie/vegan food and nothing on the menu is labelled as such. But if you ask the staff they'll point out a few options. We had risotto (1 pumpkin, 1 zucchini) and a salad. They were ok, but pretty pricey. There aren't many good options near the Capital, so it was handy, but I would definitely not go out of my way to come here.

Pros: A few vegan options.

Cons: Food is nothing special.

Nice Dessert

The people at Kosher Bistrot were quite knowledgeable and knew exactly which items on their menu were vegan. Both my boyfriend and I opted for pasta dishes which were decent but not quite filling. I did, however, have a vegan vanilla mousse with vegan whipped cream for dessert which was quite impressive. However, since Kosher Bistrot was quite expensive, we decided not to go back again and explored other options during the rest of our stay.

Pros: Nice dessert, Knowledgeable staff

Cons: Expensive, Small portions

lots of options

At least 5 appetisers, 4 first courses and a few salads are vegan. Menu in English so easy to choose and staff knew what vegan meant. Also lots of labelled gluten free options.

Pros: options, outdoor seating

Cons: not the friendliest service

Great hot chocolate

Popped in one evening, just for hot chocolate. Seats are mostly outside and a few stools inside. We didn't eat there (it seemed mostly small plates of stuff, but they pointed to quite a few that were vegan). The hot chocolate (thick, custardy and with cream on top) was really lovely.
It's worth a wander around the Jewish quarter, there were some fast food places with quite a few things labelled vegan as well.

Pros: Friendly staff , Really great hot chocolate

Kosher rules

You have to realize that kosher means to keep milk products away from meat ones. So while there is no milk dairy, most kosher baked goods have eggs. They don't even count fish as "meat," so they sometimes serve fish in "vegetarian" kosher places. If you don't speak Italian, just be careful.

eggs...

Ho preso una cioccolata calda con panna vegetale ma non ho trovato dolci vegan, in tutti c'erano uova o miele. Forse per il pranzo ci sono più opzioni.

I had a chocolate with whipped cream but the sweets was with eggs or honey (no milk). Maybe more options for lunch.
