Great breakfast - Edit
Really tasty breakfast, no compromises, and very good value. Would definitely recommend, and will revisit next time I'm in the area. An added bonus was being able to sit outside by the canal

They got off to a shaky start. I have a number of intolerances so emailed them to check they could cater for me. They didn’t reply and when I phoned seemed unsure about the contents of their dishes but it turned out the dish I was hoping for was suitable and the waitress showed me the packet, so I felt confident my meal was ok in the end.
Read moreThe meal itself was typical English food. Very hearty and filling but very nice. The place does rely heavily on vegan replacement foods, but the meal was nice.
Their desserts are also strong, particularly the chocolate cheesecake. I had the crumble which could have been a bit sweeter, but the cheesecake was spot on.
Overall would definitely go again.

This is a characterful and popular restaurant with simple but lovely decor. Vegan dishes are indicated as vg (vegan) or vgo (can be adapted to a vegan option). My son had a cajun burger accompanied by coleslaw and skinny fries, my mum and I had vegan herb sausages with green beans and a lovely buttery tasting mash plus onion gravy (with sauteed onions, not overpowering). All dishes were cooked well and we were offered extra gravy if we wanted. We also requested extra vegan garlic mayo. The food was delicious and service very friendly and attentive. If it is your birthday a week either side of the actual birthday, then your meal is free (with ID as evidence of the date). Love this place!

We have been plenty of times and always enjoy the food. The menu has changed since we last went and they have some great options on their vegan menu. They have a vegan chef now. The staff are really friendly and they will swap accompaniments around if you ask.

During a recent work trip I once again hit up the trusty Happy Cow App to find some local vegan options and tried out the Playwrights.
Read moreNicely presented. Despite having a member of staff off food arrived super fast. Very well presented fully vegan breakfast. It was a great price and tasted great too.
The manager seemed lovely too and despite being crazy busy still made time to have a quick chat. Highly recommended will be back.

Three course vegan menu with so many choices! Lovely food. I had the spicy bean burger which was lovely along with the onion rings. Will return soon to have the fajitas! Really nice environment, not many tables so worth ringing ahead.

This place has a separate vegan menu which is nice however not a massive amount of choice and very 'pub-grub' style food and homestyle cooking. I had the lasagne which came with vegan garlic bread which was actually quite nice despite being ever so slightly over cooked. Family of meat eaters enjoyed enough to want to return as from what it seems the meat dishes have more thought put into them than the vegan ones. Overall a decent meal.

We went here for a works get together. The staff were great, lots of vegetarian choices and the portions where huge. The food was fairly run of the mill but was OK as it accomadated everyone's dietary requirements. I would love to see some vegetarian that don't require tons of cheese.

Nice place to head for a meal. Plenty of Vegan options and they have a separate vegan menu which is also available to view on their website. I have only eaten here once but the food then was v good.
