Great coffee and brunch - Edit
We had coffee and rancheros and they were both amazing! The vegan one with the tofu in particular was great

Good veggie takeout - Edit
I’m staying around the corner and stopped in to grab lunch to go. The counter staff was having a hard day and couldn’t remember any orders (what kind of milk, to go or eat in, etc.). The cafe was fairly crowded plus it’s very dimly lit. There’s also a garden in the back that I didn’t check out.
Read moreI chose to get the summer rolls for takeout. They were good but unwieldy. They were stuffed super thick and also sliced down the middle, so as soon as I picked up a half, the content came spilling out. I should have used a fork. The summer rolls were mostly filled with a “slaw,” which tasted great but I would have liked more variety. There was a little avocado and some cilantro. They were paired with a tahini dipping sauce and came with a side of raw kale.
There’s a chance I’d go back while I’m still in the neighborhood, but with so many options to explore in NYC, I’m likely to venture farther out for new experiences and, hopefully, superior vegan food.
PLANTED is not fully vegan. It appears that most items can be purchased ordered vegan, and that many include the option to add dairy cheese, milk, or eggs. I saw one dessert that is lacto vegetarian; the rest might be fully vegan but I’d recommend confirming first. I didn’t see any meat on the menu.

Used to be fully vegan and had a much better menu. They now serve animal products and the menu sucks. Service is alright but not worth the price

Dairy options? - Edit
Pretty good food, great pancakes but a little overpriced. Just confused why there was multiple options for milk labeled “cow” even though they advertise that they’re 100% vegan? Not sure if I read it wrong but something to be aware of!

An unexpected treat - Edit
I happened to be back in the neighborhood where I lived many years ago. I wanted to grab some breakfast and wasn’t expecting much, but was really blown away. The planted rancheros was delicious and so was the ginger lemonade. Now I’ll come back just for Planted!

Immaculate vibes - Edit
Stopped into Planted for a late lunch on a rainy afternoon and the cozy vibes inside were just what we needed. Ordered the Jackfruit tacos and while I’m still iffy about the texture of Jackfruit, the flavor was amazing, as were the fresh toppings and the refreshing cilantro sauce. We also got the roasted zucchini panini, but wasn’t so impressed by that one. The good music and quiet environment was really nice though. And they have a Sauna, Cold Plunge and Hot Tub to rent in the backyard?!?! Weird. But kinda cool!

Order the Jackfruit tacos 🌮 - Edit
We had: the presto pesto panini, the jackfruit tacos and a rose matcha latte with the homemade cashew milk.
Read morePresto pesto panini - really fresh! I was worried it would be overly buttery or oily, but to my surprise it was refreshing! Also quite small for a panini but it came with homemade sweet potato chips which were really good.
Jackfruit tacos - really took the gold! Their jackfruit was fresh, definitely not packaged. It really had a good consistency and the sauce was deliiiiicious. Paired with avocado and pickled red onions. Definitely getting these again.
Rose matcha latte w cashew milk - loved the homemade cashew milk, so good and so creamy! A little disappointed on the rose and matcha… matcha came out more pastel green (not great) and very minimal flavor overall except for the milk.
The vibe was reallllllly chill. Very quiet. Lots of plants, crystals and sage for purchase. In the backyard, a sauna, cold plunge and hot tub for membership and private use which we thought was really unique.
Overall enjoyed the space. Warm comforting food in a very relaxing environment.
Pros: Vibe, Jackfruit tacos

Pleasant comfortable atmosphere, food ok - Edit
Easy comfortable space, fast good service, best cornbread Chandler has had in awhile, he loved it.
Read moreOur veggie burger and "egg" sandwich were good, everything was fresh and well presented and healthy but flavors of the dressings were more tangy and fermented than I like (Chandler loved them).
Burger was very good but the heavily dressed Salad had a dressing I didn't like. But I would come here again to try something else, and Chandler was very happy with the flavor palette, very nice atmosphere and not crowded, at least during the week at the time we came here,

This spot used to be great, still looks great but totally fails to deliver on the food front!! $60 for 3 tacos and a small vege burger with 2 grainy matcha drinks…. Add to that two feral kids running around one of them, barefoot and coughing, continually… she didn’t try to coming up to the table several times !!

Nice comfy place - Edit
Delicious food. I had the egg sandwich, shared a muffin and enjoyed a turmeric latte. It was happy hour for alcohol. They had many options but we were in the mood for coffee. It's a beautiful place. Nice vibes. Yes it is kinda pricey however I appreciate the smaller, more normal portions. I think healthy food costs more, it's worth it!

Came here on a recommendation and boy was that a bad recommendation!
Read moreI'm VGF so always really appreciate a VGF establishment but inedible is inedible.
Thankfully we just tried a blueberry muffin for my hubby which was very chickpea flour tasting it's only saving grace was all the blueberries.
I tried the salad rolls. The dipping sauce was good but the rolls were poorly rolled and everything inside was dipping with vinegar. I ate one of the four.

Planted in Brooklyn - Edit
What a find. Entering Planted is like entering a calming glade, from the verdant plant displays outside to the hanging plants and plant misters at the entrance, giving way to a friendly face at the counter.
Read moreI love that this place is vegan and prioritizes whole foods, health, and the environment by sourcing locally. Their menu is seasonal and delicious. Surrounded by all the plants, it creates a pretty cool space.
I had the mushroom latte and a brownie. Mushroom lattes seem to be a thing in NYC. Since moving here, I’ve only had it once. Trying it at Planted made it legit. It was creamy with a nice depth of flavor. As for the brownie, I’ll let the picture speak for itself. Awesome goodness.
On the way out, I took advantage of their sale and grabbed a couple of plants to decorate the new digs with. You can say I’m a bit more planted in NYC now. Har har…

I waited for ~30 minutes for an underwhelming sandwich and a smoothie. I already wasn’t planning on returning but I later found out the owner is a slumlord who tried to illegally evict tenants during a pandemic (check out the article in NY Magazine) so I extra won’t be returning here.
