The ambiance, the food, the service, absolutely incredible! Our waitress was so sweet and helpful. Definitely trust the waiters and waitresses on what they recommend. They are very knowledgeable and can recommend wines based on your own personal preferences. We even got some to taste! I’ll save you some time and say you gotta go as soon as you can.

beautiful restaurant - Edit
Classy vegan dining that was a nice change from other vegan restaurants. The starter that I got (cashew raclette) was outstanding, however, I was a little disappointed in the gnocchi and the desserts ( i got tiramisu and coconut cream pie). That being said, it was a very nice restaurant and I would go again.

Exquisite Dinning Experience - Edit
We held our daughter's wedding reception in the courtyard at plant food and wine. The reception was attended by both vegans and non-vegans. I can speak for my wife and I, we're both non-vegans, that this is the finest dining experience we have ever experienced. We were served an 8 course meal containing foods and flavors we had never tasted before. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the courtyard was very tranquil. What a delightful experience!

Love this culinary masterful restaurant! - Edit
Matthew Kenney's restaurants is a place to make your tastebuds go wild! The flavors, the food presentation and the setting in Santa Monica / Venice is another restaurant in LA we never miss visiting. The raw lasagna is always in our order along with the Kim chee dumplings. Talk about a burst of flavors in one bite! So delicious and the cheese platter is always in our order as well. All made from scratch hence the reason for the prices but well worth it. He's simply a vegan raw food culinary master. Don't let your tastebuds miss this experience. If you are into a vegan high end culinary experience, this is it.

High end vegan dining - Edit
Taking plant food to a whole new level. I literally dreamt about the spaghetti squash cacio e pepe for months after I went for the first time. Definitely good for a special occasion. If you want to experience plant food that is far from every day this is the place for you. The back garden with its fairy lights is wonderfully romantic while the interior has a more minimalist aesthetic.

Went to the sister restaurant in Santa Barbara and not sure which I like better. The ambience at the other is a little nicer, all outdoors and open. But this was great, the food was definitely more plant based but everything we had was delicious. Must stop while in the LA area!

Amazing! - Edit
My fiancé and I randomly came across this place while visiting Venice Beach and decided to check it out. Everything we had was amazing from the food to the wine to the experience itself. The manager even handed me a fig off their garden tree after finding out that while living in China they were my favorite treat! We decided to get one appetizer (cheese platter), one main dish (farro fennel sausage), and three sides (truffle potatoes, Kung pao cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts) because we wanted to try as many different flavors as possible. My poor fiancé only got two bites of the sausage because I didn’t realize how quickly I was eating it! I had a white wine and he had a red and they paired well with all the dishes. I will say that this is high dining, so the plates are small for the price. I wouldn’t recommend this for an everyday dinner spot, but for special occasions and vacations it’s really a great experience! The food is rich and flavorful without being overpowering. Definitely get the cheese plate. It’s a fun experience and nice to pair with different wines. We were a bit rushed or we would have done the 6-courses with wine pairings. Next time we are in town, that’s what we will do!

Plant Food + Wine = LOVE - Edit
During my trip in L.A., I stayed in the Venice Beach area and had to check out Plant Food + Wine. This restaurant really called to me since I'm originally from the Napa Valley (wine) and I'm vegan (Hello!)

This restaurant is divine! The food is outstandingly fresh and delicious. The raw heirloom tomato and zucchini lasagna had the most delicious tomatoes I’ve ever tasted. The bread and vegan tiramisu dessert were also impeccable. This is a pricey but tasty establishment.

Bland and overpriced food - Edit
Been looking forward to visiting this place for weeks but left disappointed.
Read moreIt started out very promising with the watermelon poke, fresh and beautifully presented. Next dish, the avocado tikka was ok but nothing special. We shared two mains, gnocchi and the fermented oats. The gnocchi like the tikka left no impression and the fermented oats served with a tasteless sausage was so unappetising I should have send it back.
Service was friendly but very slow

Vegan gourmet dining - Edit
Simply put amazing! The food is extremely nice, incedible wide range of flavour. The restaurant itself has a high class look and still a certain casual feel to it. The staff is very friendly and helpful and most of them vegan themselves. This is fine dining for vegans and only 10 minutes walking from venice beach.

I thought the food here was average - not great. Portions were small, variety was small and food was good but not amazing. Pretty location but hard to get comfortable on the seats. Parking is tough.

Hit or miss - Edit
We had brunch for a larger party. There was no room outside so we were seated inside. Some dishes were delicious. Some dishes were overpowered with too much sauce or too much dressing. As others mentioned, the service was very slow. In addition, the server’s attention seemed to be focused on the groups in the courtyard, which left us with very mediocre service and a 20% tip added in. I’ve had dinner before, which we enjoyed. The menu choices are not universally great. You have to pick right. I will probably give this another chance, but I preferred the dinner menu over the brunch menu.

Heaven - Edit
They have a new executive chef and have managed their service team well. My last review was not raving but after this last visit - strap in, I've got endless good things to say.
Read moreThe service was fabulous. The outdoor back patio is adorable. The wine list was great (I actually don't know much but my mom knows wine and said it was a particularly nice wine list).
Okay, so now, the food: this is a place you can bring your animal-product-eating-friends and have them truly impressed. Each dish was beautiful and had epic flavor.
PLEASE order the Raclette. Each time I've had it I've wanted to make a whole meal out of it. The blue cheese plate was worth writing home about. The Kung Pao cauliflower has great flavor.
We also had the Plant Bowl and Lasagna which were awesome.
Parking is $7 For valet outside and we've gotten street parking nearby free both times we've been.
This is a great spot for a party or a romantic date night.
Dogs are allowed on the patio, too.

We had a wonderful lunch sharing a Raclette and a mushroom burger...beautifully presented and delicious flavours and textures. The garden is peaceful and an enjoyable space with attentive staff. Definitely one to experience if you like clean, fresh, flavoursome dishes that showcase how awesome plantbased food can be created :) can’t wait to return

A Bit Underwhelming - Edit
I was extremely excited to try this restaurant as I have heard nothing but rave reviews. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down. The appetizer (cheese board) was delicious, and it was obvious that a lot of love and care was put into making/fermenting the cheeses. However, it was a bit downhill from there. The Kung Pao cauliflower was a little cold with an overly-sweet glaze. The udon noodles were decent (but over cooked), and the chickpea “frittata” was more like a crumbly, flavorless pancake. The banana parfait, however, was really good. All in all, the meal was a bit underwhelming (especially paired with the slow service and pretentious/overpriced menu), with some delicious dishes mixed in. Not sure this meal was worth all the hype, but I would give it another try.
