Is it really Junk food? - Edit
Nestled within the Chiado district, Plant Base presents a concealed entrance that may easily be overlooked, as I initially did. However, upon entering, a remarkable transformation occurs. The interior is spacious and features two distinct dining areas: one situated near the entrance and the other situated around the corner, adjacent to the bar.
Read moreWhile the description of Plant Base suggests that it serves “junk food,” I strongly disagree. The culinary offerings here are exceptional. I have visited Plant Base twice within a week, and each time, I have been pleasantly surprised.
On my first visit, I indulged in The Special Burger, a delectable creation featuring a Beyond Burger patty, vegan cheese, caramelized onions, fried onions, tomatoes, cucumber pickles, and sriracha mayonnaise, all nestled on a red onion bun.
On my second visit, I opted for the JHOL MOMO, a culinary masterpiece consisting of steamed Himalayan Momos immersed in a delectable tomato curry, complemented by red onions and cilantro.
In my opinion, I have discovered my favorite Plant Base dish. The JHOL MOMO boasts a harmonious blend of flavors, with a touch of heat that resonated with my preferences. Its deep, rich taste left me thoroughly satisfied.

We went there on purpose after checking Google, Happy Cow and Instagram for opening hours. When we came in, we were promptly (and a bit rudely) told they were closed. We asked why and they just said "there are no people", although we are not sure what that means. We asked if they were going to stay closed for the day, they said yes. No apology, nothing. We just got out.

We were excited to go there for the first time, planned a trip for it and all. Will not be trying again in the future, very disappointed.

We stayed in Lisbon for a week and visited lots of different restaurants, but Beets was definitely the best place we went! So good we have already recommended it to a friend. I had a veggie burger which was delicious, and the Beets cocktail which was also amazing! The staff were so friendly and the music was great too, the whole place had a really nice atmosphere.

We had a great dinner at the Plant Base. We went for the Hot Dog and Pesto Pizza and it was just great. Still craving the pizza dough, since it was one of the best doughs I have ever eaten, so fluffy and just perfect!

4* Bigger than Mac pizza was a great twist on the Big Mac, but a little bland.
5* The garlic bread was cheesy, oily, and flavourful. 4*Mac and cheese wasn't too cheesy but was delicious, with dried onions on top.
5* The highlight was the jhol momo, spicy and delicious.

Decent food but not great service - Edit
Although we came on a busy night, we were sat next to the stinky beer tap, girls that came after us somehow got their drinks and food before us. We had to be a little rude to get us moved to an actual table once we noticed tables were opening up. We felt like an after thought and somewhat of a bother. It took 15 minutes to get 2 glasses of wine. I loved the vegan bao I got so I can’t knock the food but the service was horrendous and if I actually lived in this city (although I’m not far) I wouldn’t make this place a regular visit.

Been here twice to get vegan pizza, which was very good! Everything on the menu is vegan, and unfortunately we did not get the chance to taste the other things, but would have loved to check it out!

🌱 Plant Base is a collective spearheaded by @lisbonveganjunkies that serves as a food lab for local vegan eateries. With rotating menus there’s definitely something for everybody all under one roof. We couldn’t decide what to go for, so opted for a little of everything.
Read more🍌 Spicy Banana Pizza: Yes, you heard that right! When we first ordered this we worried it would be too weird, too sweet and would have an odd texture, but we were pleasantly surprised by the gentle kick of heat and more subtle sweetness of this doughy masterpiece. The base was the right side of chewy and reminded us of naan.
🍔 So Fresh, So Clean burger: this burger is perfect if you’re a fan of a classic, no frills burger. With its beyond meat patty, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles and burger sauce interior topped with a nicely, toasted brioche bun, this burger balanced the flavours nicely and came with a side of fries (regular or sweet potato).
🌮 Chorizo tacos: we found the Tacos to be, sadly, fairly lacking in flavour. They definitely had more than their fair share of heat, but we’re otherwise bland and a little dry.
🌽 Vegetable pakoras: We certainly saved the best for last. The vegetable pakoras were to die for: crispy, mouth-wateringly savoury, with the right balance of potato and onion, we wish we’d ordered more!
All of this and two drinks set us back about $20pp, a decent price for a large meal and yes, we polished the entire lot off!

This place has got all the fast food you could possibly want - with their own special twists. My absolute recommendation are the no fish tacos, they taste amazing! The pizzas are also really good and you won’t tell the difference. Loaded Nachos are amazing as well! Place is decorated in an urban style and staff is friendly!

I had the garlic bread and the capricciosa pizza. Just: WOW! An explosion of flavors. I liked very much! The environment was a delight. On a cold night, find a small and cozy space (due to the heat, intimate lighting and lively and good music), in addition to exceptional food, the desire is to have everything at a reduced speed to enjoy it to the full. Nice atmosphere. Great service as well. I'm coming back!
