Such a Great Find - Edit
We got to Castleton and realised we had no vegan snacks or food for the walk we were about to go on. We'd just bought some biscuits from the local convenience store and then discovered Plant & Planet and were able to stock up on two delicious sandwiches and some snacks for the walk. The staff were lovely and we had to stop ourselves from buying all of the great snacks and treats on offer. A great find and made our walk so much more enjoyable.

Love this place. It’s very small and is basically take away but there are a couple of chairs and a bench if you want to eat in. The food is great. Always come here when visiting Castleton.

Simply great food - Edit
The food was really nice, such a shame that the eating facility was so awkward!
Read moreThe hot dog and burgers were really tasty and I loved the salad and potatoes....shame we were eating out of takeaway cardboard boxes.
Although the experience was weird, the place was cold and the seating/ dining area (if any) was terrible, the food deserved top marks.

We were so well looked after. I’d really recommend a visit - great choice of food (Not an overwhelming menu but enough to give variety and all sounded mouthwatering) #Veganuary

Great little place - Edit
I went for breakfast and lunch to this place. Perfect little vegan bolt hole. Had the breakfast bap for breakfast and the Texas bean chilli for lunch. Very friendly service. They have a great selection of snacks to take with you on your walk up Mam Tor. Also, pretty impressive selection of vegan / zero m waste non-food items as well.

We got the bbq seitan steak ciabatta and both I and my non-vegan friend wolfed them down. Absolutely delicious! Shop also has some great bits including fresh cakes and Love Raw bars, as well as some tins and bits you could buy for lunch.

Very friendly - Edit
It is a shop and they also serve food and drinks to take away. They have sandwiches and wraps. The guy who was there, who we think is the owner, was very nice. He even gave us some olives for free. We thought the food was nice and we really enjoyed the salad dressings !! Very different!

A must visit - Edit
Incredible little deli / cafe with loads of options. Fresh food includes tofu and seitan sandwiches and salads, cakes, and loads of hot and cold drinks (coffees, milkshakes, smoothies, etc.). The shop has a great range of snacks, crisps, chocolates, etc. and also good supplies to take on a walk like energy bars etc.

We stayed in Castleton for four days and ate here every day - sometimes more than once! Amazing food - definitely try the seitan. We also tried the cakes, milkshakes and coffees. There are also lots of great snacks to buy in the shop including single serve pots of Booja Booja if you fancy an ice cream.

We were so rapt to find this place after a hike up Mam Tor. Such a cute shop in a great, central location in Castletown with really lovely high quality vegan and eco products. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable and we would definitely recommend this shop and a visit to this area of the Peak District too. We will return! :)

Even better than the recommendation - Edit
Having recently joined van life, a friend had recommended Mam Tor and Castleton as a great weekend spot. After doing a 12km hike we stopped in Castleton and even in the rain the place was super busy and beautiful.
Read moreWe waited outside Plant and Planet as a couple were already in there (ordering a massive order and finishing off the sausages :'() but when we got in the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The menu is outside but could do with a copy inside and the shop itself had a really great selection of eco-friendly items and vegan snacks.
We ordered the Deli and a double cheese burger. They were both insane! We got them with slaw and salad on the side but would just get the sandwich next time. The bread was so soft and the fillings were super tasty. Crazy vegan junk food, just what we needed after a monster hike. Will continue the good recommendations to any more van pals we have!
Pros: Good portions, Value for money
Cons: Small inside, only 2 seats

Delicious food and lovely staff - Edit
Was looking for somewhere to camp and hike with a town nearby for food/drinks after. We went to Plant and Planet after a hike and we were not disappointed. I got a BLT and my friend choose ‘the Deli‘! Both sandwiches were delicious and their homemade seitan was paired perfectly with a vegan brioche. Both the servers were so welcoming and friendly and I couldn’t fault the place one bit. The perfect treat to top off a lovely hike. I’d love to return and try their booja booja ice cream 😋.

Must visit when in Castleton! - Edit
Wow. I can’t recommend this place highly enough! We had two deli sandwiches with salad and slaw along with a white chocolate milkshake. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced for Castleton. The deli “meats” were absolutely spot on - some of the best faux meats I’ve had anywhere in the world. The person working was super friendly and helpful, we had a question about allergies/intolerances and it was dealt with perfectly. The products available in the shop are all really nice too. We’ll definitely be back to try everything else on the menu under the pretence of going for a nice walk in the Peaks!

Excellent find - Edit
What an amazing find! We were heading to Castleton for a monster hike and luckily the HappyCow Gods showed us this place. We drove straight here after a 4 hour drive from Norwich and grabbed a coffee and a few treats. The service was great and the coffee was delicious. We then stopped off again before driving home a few days later and once again were suitably impressed. We had a BLT and Deli sandwich, both which were incredibly tasty and very much enjoyed.
