Serves meat, vegan options available. International pizza restaurant chain founded 1965 with its first branch in London and has since grown to operate outlets across the UK and overseas. Created a separate vegan menu in 2018 offering choices including: starters like marinated olives and vegan dough balls, multiple varieties of pizzas (uses vegan cheese & faux meats), an al forno penne pasta, alcoholic drinks like cider and beer, fruit sorbet and carrot cake for dessert. Soya milk is available for coffee and tea. Outside of the UK the options may vary so check with your server. Leggera salad without dressing is vegan. Has sorbet. Open Mon-Thu 11:30-22:00, Fri-Sat 11:30-23:00, Sun 12:00-22:00.

Certainly not express - Edit
Ate at pizza express chains before but this experience was by far the worst. I ate here earlier in the year. It was not overly busy but we were informed of a long wait time.
Read moreWe sat down and could hear complaints of people’s wait time from other tables. The food took a long time to come out but what made it worse was the customer service and the food quality. Pizza was cold and burnt in parts.
I did actually put a complaint in and did get a voucher to return. Second time was better but I do feel it is over priced for the quality of food. I think this location could do better.

There’s pizza, garlic bread… it’s pizza express… they do pizza - Edit
Several vegan options, well labelled. Would be good to have more menu items available as vegan. Can’t even have dough balls? However, new vegan items added so can’t complain too much
Read morePros: Several vegan options , Cheap & cheerful
Cons: Only a few vegan items , A lot of items not available as a vegan option

vegan pizza !! - Edit
I ordered the vegan giardiniera pizza which was delicious! They had a couple of other different vegan pizzas to choose from. I also ordered an aperol spritz which is vegan if you order it without the orange.

Let the train take the strain - Edit
This is a really lovely branch of Pizza Express which now has the added advantage of serving vegan cheese on its pizza. On my last visit in August 2016 prior to going to watch Carlise United v Plymouth Argyle I had the Giardiniera pizza and a glass of Pinot Grigio even though I'd had a few too many the night before at a Bryan Adams concert (vegan by the way) at Durham County cricket ground. Currently this is probably the only place you'll get a vegan pizza in Carlise and is the obvious choice if staying in or visiting this historic border town. Yes, I did get a bag of chips (cooked in vegetable oil) and a couple of cans of Stella for the ScotRail back to Newcastle.

Vegan pizza arrives in Cumbria - Edit
Nice atmosphere, pizza with vegan cheese can be personalized, check pizzaexpress website for what can be veganized.
Read moreMust book ahead even if only 30mins ahead. There's normally a queue of people waiting to be seated.
Disabled parking spaces near by. Disabled toilet sometimes has lack of space to turn our access hand dryer thanks to nappy bins and supplies. Needed to ask staff to move spare chairs out of the corridor used to reach the disabled toilet.
Restaurant is often very busy with little space better tables. Often holds kid's parties.
Food and service always excellent. Check their website for special offer vouchers before visiting.
Pros: Some vegan meals, vegan cheese, Lovely food , Wheelchair access
Cons: Menu doesn't say what alcohol is vegan/veggie, Dishes that can be veganized not marked on menu, Staff block access to disabled toilet with chairs
