Awesome Cafe in the Heart of Dotonbori - Edit
Pivot Base is fantastic! Dotonbori is like a huge shopping area and food Mecca for non-vegan so the fact that there’s this amazing vegan restaurant in the middle of it is pretty awesome. The food is so delicious—we visited twice! The Ramen option I got was so incredibly creamy and rich. The noodles were extremely flavorful and the veggies were just as tasty. I also loved the fried Takoyaki. They have a few different flavors (we sampled all of them) and they bring a house made mayo you can add to it! It’s so good! Everything else we ordered was superb! Everyone here speaks English, and I believe the owner hangs out at the restaurant as well. He’s very kind, as are the servers. This place is 10 out of 10 incredible—we highly recommend it!

Read moreThe “tako”yaki weren’t cooked particularly well, and the eggplant in the kushiyaki was very oily. Gyoza were fine, as were the pickles.
Several members of staff weren’t very knowledgeable about payment methods when asked. Also when I originally tried to order the kushiyaki it showed as unavailable on the menu. I asked a member of staff and was told it was sold out. 30 minutes later I saw a plate being delivered to another table. I checked the online ordering again and it showed that it was available. It would have been nice for them to tell us it was available again.

Great tasting food — the beers are also HUGE. They speak English as well, highly recommended the takoyaki the mayo they have taste soooo good compared to regular kewpie mayo. We got the gyoza and takoyaki and I got a dessert (matcha pudding with brown sugar). They also have mocktails for my sober friends :-).

Had the best vegan takoyaki and kushikatsu here! Finally a place where you can have authentic vegan japanese food. It's so rare. Still many vegan restaurant in Japan serve western food. Personally, I liked it here more than Shinsekai Paprika shokudo, which also have kushikatsu and takoyaki.
