Disappointing meal, great ice cream - Edit
Originally visited the restaurant as we both fancied pizzas but the oven was broken, so we ordered the sharing grill platter for two. There were plenty of peppers, onions etc. on the platter, but the whole meal was flavorless and very oily. The tofu had not been marinated or seasoned.
Read moreHowever, the ice cream is amazing, probably some of the best vegan ice cream I've had. Loads of selection, both fruity and creamy/chocolatey flavours! The owner served us and was delightful.

Greasy food, unfriendly staff - Edit
So we went there once during lunch where the waiters have been incredibly unfriendly. They just ignored us away until we left. Then in the evening we wanted to give it another shot. I think the pasta of my friends was alright but the vegan grilled plate was seriously so greasy, so oily that I couldn’t finish it since I was so disgusted by the end. If you go, try something different.

Amazing food, long waiting time - Edit
The ice cream as well as the pasta dishes are absolutely amazing! They had 17(!) different vegan flavours, I felt like in a vegan heaven. Hazelnut was my favourite one, soo good!

The waiters were very friendly and made sure we had water all the time but the dishes took soo long! There were only a few people at the restaurant but we waited 50 (!!) minutes until they told us they can't make the pizza we ordered because the oven is broken. Then it took another 10-15min until we both got our pasta dishes.

The plate was too oily for my taste, but my wife liked it way more than me. Njoki are homemade and very delicious but somehow in too much sauce w too strong taste for us. I never had ice cream this good tho. Recommend!!!!!

Very sorry to give such a vegan-friendly place this bad rating. We waited for 50 minutes although the restaurant was practically empty. The Pizza was good but the vegan grill plate was bad, even though it's quite pricey- no seasoning, too greasy and the sausage and dips were horrible. The service wasn't good, no one checked on us. We wouldn't go again!

Read moreThe wait was a bit long, but reasonable (around 45min) for a pizza and pasta, however, the pasta was delivered 10min before the pizza. The food was quite good. There was also an extremely friendly waiter who was a local and helped us with our travel plan and all of our questions.
The icecream is amazing and I highly reccomend trying it, we ordered an affogato and were very happy. The coffee is also very nice. In this regard, they deserve 5 stars, but the lunch is not quite there yet.

We ordered grilled vegetables and tofu with buckwheat for two, along with a salad with vegan feta cheese. It was good, but next time I would choose something less oily. I highly recommend the ice cream😄

Being the kindness of the waitresses/owners or the quality and the taste of the food, it's a 5stars review. Wow I would have eaten at this restaurant every day if I discovered it at the beginning of my stay in Piran, instead of the last day.

Everything is vegeterian or vegan, thats good. I had the asparagus pasta - it tasted kind of bland and there was no asparagus to be seen. My boyfriend had the vegan grilled platter - it Was amazing!

Strange thing: the oven didn't work so we could not order pizza or hot dog and other recommendations say that this happens frequently. We also tasted the ice cream - Would not recommend it. Has a strange texture.

Motr than half of the menu is not available (pizzas, gnocci and smoothies). Service is chaotic, usually one gets the dish and the other one has to wait a lot. In sevrral occasions we nevrr get what we asked, we ordered two different dishes of pasta, both get the same one. I ordered different breakfast three days in a row.. always got the same dish. Some other day every one got served , got a bottlr of water but us, even 4 tables who got later than us. I got my dish of pasta and my fiancee had to wait like 20 minutes to get her order, just to be informed that they had a problem with the ordering software and that the kitcher never got the order, and that she should change her choice because if not shw would have to wait more. The staff arr nice but chaotic.

Vegan options are there, but so are several issues. Getting charged an unexpected sum without receiving a receipt, long waiting time, menu items unavailable, and sometimes a table getting dishes quite some time apart. Besides, we got our pancakes burnt and just drizzled with a bit of sauce (no filling). It all looks sort of improvised service wise. I hope they improve.

I ate there more than 20 times as there was not much else in Piran, always breakfast and most evenings dinner. I want to emphasize that I’m really glad that Piranart exists and what they do for veganism. However, the service and everything around it is not great and it seems does not work well at all when the boss is not there (it’s better when she’s there).

Now to the bad things/things that could be improved:
- the big menu with lot of options does not help when you can’t order most of it. There were multiple dishes on the menu that were never available during a two week stay. And many other dishes (on the breakfast and on the lunch/dinner menu) were not available daily. So the daily routine was to ask what we can order today or just have 3 different plans what we would order and hope one of that was available. Annoying.
- portion size: differs daily but you pay the same price every day. See my pictures; the pizza was once half the size of the biggest. Happened with all dishes, not just pizzas. Really unfair.
- most of the times the service is really slow and unattentive and you wait a long time for the food. We once waited 90min just to get our breakfast and once dinner when almost no one else was there and when we wanted to get the waitress’ attention it took us more than 20min since she never looked to our table and waving did not help. So we had to get up and go to the bar to ask if we can have at least some water after an hour of waiting. Most waiters/waitresses were not great and it seemed they were even trying to avoid looking at you and a small percentage were actually good and attentive and did not constantly forget stuff to bring. Most of the days you need to have a lot of patience (1h at least) even when the restaurant is empty otherwise but on some days the food was there in 10min. Service was always better when the boss was there
- Since there is a big discrepancy when the food arrives you can almost never eat together. The dishes never arrive at the same time for all persons or salad and main dish arrive at the same time for the same person. Also not great.
- Sometimes there is a table fee (EUR 2/person) which I guess covers the tap water and bread they sometimes bring that you just have to pay sometimes. However, that’s also not consistent, sometimes you pay it, sometimes you don’t even though they brought water and bread

We went for breakfast and waited over 40 minutes for two caprese salads which were not even good. Beside of us there was only one other table occupied and there were a lot of staff in the restaurant so I really don’t get it what took so long especially since this is only sliced tomato and cheese. The vegan mozzarella was not nice and only had some dried basil on top. That took over 40 minutes… I could have done this in less than 5 minutes… the waitress was nice and didn’t charged one of the salads but that one we couldn’t even eat because we needed to leave.

We tried a pasta and the grilled vegetables and sausages - and got a scoop of ice cream to go (from a huge selection of vegan flavors) as a gift.

Siamo stati da Piranart per quello che doveva essere un pranzo veloce, in realtà i tempi d'attesa sono stati veramente molto lunghi, nonostante non ci fossero così tanti clienti. Il menù è fin troppo ampio, noi abbiamo preso una grigliata mista e un piatto di formaggi vegani. I formaggi erano buoni, il piatto di grigliata invece era composto solo da verdure e tofu scondito piastrato (con una salsa piccante da poter aggiungere eventualmente), mentre mancava la salsiccia vegetale. Quando lo abbiamo fatto notare ci hanno fatto presente che non la avevano messa perché la avevano finita, peccato che non ce lo abbiano detto al momento dell'ordine.

A wonderful delicious Culinary experience - Edit
A family restaurant, where the ambiance, music, service and cuisine combine into a unique whole. It's worth the wait, because the feeling is really nice at the end. Like being at grandma's for lunch or dinner. The staff is helpful, they adapt to culinary requirements, they take into account allergen restrictions and most importantly for us: there is no meat or fish in this restaurant. Everyone in the owner's family is vegetarian or vegan. We recommend it. We will be back.
