Incredible - Edit
Food is absolutely incredibly as is the service. It’s my go to place in lincoln. The prices are decent. The dessert is delicious and not overly sweet. The menu has variety. I can’t fault it.

Delicious vegetarian food! - Edit
All- vegetarian cafe serving delicious lunch options. My carnivore boyfriend greatly enjoyed the Graze Plate, while I had the vegan mozzerella, tomato and pesto ciabatta! It was very filling and yummy, and staff were very accommodating.

Tasty macaroni cheese 😊 - Edit
Lots of vegan options. Lovely and friendly staff. Freshly made hot quality food. Bit pricey at £12.50 for most dishes. I had mac n cheese, which came with salad garnish & half a piece of garlic bread ciabatta.

Nice food but expensive for what you get - Edit
The food was nice but the portion size was very small and so this made it very expensive. I ordered the graze plate and was quite disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the loaded nachos and was disappointed with the lack of chilli.

Nice food and service - Edit
With several separate areas this is a cosy place to eat. Immediately the waitress explained that all meals could be made vegan (just one exception, the quiche). I mention this just because of a comment below from last year - this clearly has improved😄
Read moreWe had a vegan jacket potato and veggie quiche. Both were great and the jacket potato very filling.
The service was smiling and relaxed, both at the welcome desk and at the table.
Highly recommended!

Excellent choice - Edit
I came here on a recent visit to Lincoln and I wonder if I can justify another one hour long train ride just to go again. There are two Pimentos on HC because the owners changed a few times but don’t let these 2* reviews fool you, it’s great again!
Read moreThe cafe has tons of options, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, full meals, cakes and pastries, various loose leaf teas, coffees and lattes. The service is brilliant and is up for a chat and the place is very cute with wooden floors and nice and cosy decor!
I had the vegan carrot cake and I think it was probably the best carrot cake I’ve had, ever! I sometimes find them sickly sweet but this one was simply delicious. I had a pot of some tropical tea blend and it was great too. I also had their matcha latte with oat milk but it should come with a warning. I don’t think it was 100% matcha powder (more like the sugary blend they use at one of the big chains, or perhaps sweetener was added?!), so if you’re used to the real matcha taste and don’t sweeten your matcha lattes, this might not be for you.
Oh, and took an Oreo cake home and my partner really enjoyed it too.
Pros: Soooo much to choose from, Nice cakes, Great place to relax

Pleasant cafe in a historic setting - Edit
Pimento’s is a bigger cafe than it looks from outside and there is a small courtyard at the back.
Read moreThere were some good menu options but nothing with the wow factor.
The desserts were more exciting with several interesting vegan options.
The building is hundreds of years old and even has some of the original Roman wall in part of it. How many places can boast of that!
Pros: Good service, Historic building, Courtyard area
Cons: An average sort of menu

Poor understanding of vegans - Edit
We were regulars here under the old owner. We visited once with the owners that took over in Sept 2018 and were served dairy cheese and butter, after we'd told them of a dairy intolerance, as well as ethical veganism. We were therefore delighted when those owners left and new owners opened in January 2019. We visited on a Sunday lunchtime. It was very quiet. The wait staff were pleasant, but had to return to the kitchen several times to check what was vegan. The answer is very little, and there is no thought put into the vegan food served. Lots of vegan cheese substitutes, which at the current time are, unless expensive artisan versions, quite poor and generally taste of oil. We don't use substitutes at home as we simply dislike them. Otherwise, vegans at Pimentos are looking at black bean chilli and a plain old roast veg and hummus sandwich. Theres nothing wrong with these, but its standard alternative options and the kind of thing places run by meat eaters offer. Unlike the excellent meals the talented previous owner produced, the fayre now is not reflective of the interesting and exciting food available to vegans. There are half a dozen non veggie restaurants in the vicinity with more tempting vegan food than is available in this specialised cafe. We tried to speak to the staff about it but they seemed disinterested, to the point of almost surprised - reminiscent of the attitude of eateries that believe having an option is enough effort, as if vegans don't go out to eat for pleasure. Its probably ok for vegetarians, but we won't be back. Food to appease rather than please.

New owners - Edit
I used to be a real fan of Pimentos but it's changed since it got new owners. The menu is now difficult to read and there are not clear vegan options so I'm not even sure if it counts as an option on here. You go to places like this to not have to ask for options! I just get the feeling that the new owners are not passionate about the vegan way of life, I feel it's more about making money than providing a compassionate experience. It's such a shame because the waiting staff are so lovely and can't do enough for you. I won't be going back.

Cons: Have to ask for options , Unclear options

We're sorry you didn't like our menu. The reason there are no options on there is our whole menu is available as a vegan (and gluten-free) option. It does state this on the top of each page of the menu but we are considering other ways to make this clear to everyone. I hope you enjoyed the food and staff enough to want to come back and give us another try.

Plentiful vegan options at this charming vegetarian spot - Edit
Charming tea room on the Steep Hill in historic Lincoln. My husband had the jacket potatoes, lots of vegan options for the topping, I had a curry special. Almost everything on the menu can be made vegan except for the quiches. Two vegan cheeses offered, cheddar and mozzarella. Lovely outside seating area.

Old-Fashioned Oasis - Edit
I come here whenever I eat out in Lincoln, once a month or so. I'd give Pimento 4 stars for food because it's all GOOD rather than vibrantly creative, but the selection of teas and coffees from world-class must-visit tea shop Imperial Teas a few doors down the hill pushes it safely into the 5 star zone. The location and atmosphere also help. Daily selections vary among a fairly diverse repetoire - the Ethiopian peanut stew is my favourite, but the goulash is also pretty amazing. I often order one of their lovely baked potatoes though - very good value and plenty of toppings available. Everything comes with their lovely salad garnish. They always have a vegan hot dessert option but it's tempting to order the no-sugar no-fat fruit cake every time!

Perfect pit-stop in Lincoln - Edit
It was Easter Sunday when I found Pimento's. Lincoln was insanely busy, and it was the middle of lunchtime, but I managed to get a seat and served really quickly. It was odd sitting watching people shopping over the corridor (the teashop is in a clothes shop!) while I was stuffing my face but the place has a lovely vibrant atmosphere and the staff were excellent and attentive, and the food completely wonderful. Pimento's is the perfect refuelling pit-stop. I had a Sri Lankan curry with sweet potato & cashews with rice - I'm salivating at the memory of it! - with a deliciously refreshing coffee called Papua Bird of Paradise. The choice of teas and coffees alone makes this the best place to stop for a breather - halfway up Steep Hill, you'll likely need a rest! - but with vegan and veggie food of this calibre, there's nowhere else I'll go next time I'm in Lincoln. A 5-star find!
