Lovely, friendly, wholesome - Edit

It’s one of those places that probably looks intimidating from the outside (aka ‘fancy’) but it’s actually super nice, welcoming, bright and has lots of great options. The seating arrangement is great for solo travellers too.

Everything looks really healthy but still feels indulgent. Not greasy or loaded with sugar or salt (except perhaps the cake). 3 dairy-free milk options. Lots of cake including raw. They even offer ‘regular’ ketchup and brown sauce with the hot meals, if that’s a concern.

Pros: early opening time, lots of choice, healthy

healthy - Edit

yes fresh both in decor and food.
great to see a bright new light in the glasgow vegan scene. when you walk into a bright cafe with smiling staff, first impressions is fresh food with the smell of fresh bread
Returned for a veggie breakfast and wasn't let down. Wow it's great to get a breakfast that isn't covered in oil or over fried. The addition of avocado and asparagus even made you feel you were getting some of those five a day that even vegans need.
Also had a wrap at vegfest which was packed with natural food and fantastic.

So good.

Pros: staff, healthy, choice

Picnic - Edit

Picnic is a new, clean and friendly place with an emphasis on health - they have various juices & smoothies.
They also have oat milk which is a massive plus and is something every vegan place should have. No other milk works as well with coffee.
Food-wise they do soups, curries, burgers, salads, sandwiches/wraps and baked potatoes. They also do a good breakfast from 8-11.
They are probably most famous for their no-egg (scrambled tofu) mayo roll which is decent but not incredible.
The main issue is price here - it's definitely on the steep end of the spectrum. They are in an area of expensive rent (Ingram St) which explains some of this but £6.50 is quite high for a baked sweet potato and £9 is a push for a breakfast too. A slight reduction in these prices will reel in more customers and further promote veganism, even though I'm aware that the actual branding is understated and focuses more on health than veganism

nice little shop - Edit

I randomly stumbled across this place while walking through Glasgow. I decided to give it a try and I loved t so much I went everyday for the smoothies and the juices. As I was leaving Glasgow I picked up a banana muffin and it was literally the best muffin I've ever had in my life. Glasgow has a ton of vegan pubs so this healthy place was a little gem in the mist of it all.

Pros: the food , the staff, the wifi

Perfect! - Edit

Ideal place for a hungry vegan looking for somewhere to eat in Glasgow. Perfect if you’re changing trains and have some time as it’s less than 10 minutes walk from Queen Street train station.
Lovely BLT and pot of tea. A good range of menu items to choose from without being too many - it’s still difficult to choose!
Friendly, welcoming staff complete a perfect visit ☺️

Pros: Good location , All vegan, Good cake selection

Cons: I don’t live nearer

Tasty healthy vegan - Edit

Glasgow is spoiled for vegan eateries, but the many of the others specialise in burgers, vegan pizza etc.. Picnic aim for something healthier (but still delicious!), so it's a welcome addition. Love their cooked breakfast, and the bagels. It's not joyless healthy food, though - they have great cakes!

Really impressed with the selection offered. Particularly since every other vegan cafe in Glasgow seems to offer junk food. I loved the curry sweet potato with salad and the yellow smoothie. Tip!

Highly recommended! - Edit

Fully vegan beautiful, modern, bright, clean and tidy place at street level, accessible to everyone and dog-friendly too.

A+ grade at several levels: variety of well presented and well served, fresh and delicious food; raw cakes; gluten free cakes; croissants (yes, vegan croissants! it was the first time I had croissant in thirteen years! Thank you so much!); friendly and helpful staff; welcoming atmosphere; good music; cleaned toilets.

The only thing I would advice to change is to write on the menu board that the red lentil soup is hot/spicy and not your usual red lentil soup (the one I ate had big chunks of tomatoes, onions and other vegetables, and chillies, ginger and black pepper...). One of the people in my group was not able to eat it but they promptly replaced it by a no hot/spicy version. Brilliant customer service!

Can't wait to visit Glasgow again to eat at Picnic :D
I highly recommend this place!

Delightful place and food - Edit

Was visiting Glasgow on holiday recently and found this place via happy cow (which happened to be directly opposite to where we were staying).

Popped in to check it out and ended up coming back several times over the weekend, and managed to get through a good chunk of the menu. Spicy bean wrap packs a punch, the salads are great, and the desserts also really good. The burger dish on the menu (can't remember what it's called exactly) was by far my favourite though.

The place is chilled and the staff are very friendly which is always a bonus.

Pros: Food, Vibe, Staff

Loved it! - Edit

I found Picnic via Happy Cow and ended up visiting it a few times on a recent trip to Glasgow.

It's a nice, airy bright place with super friendly, helpful staff who were happy to make recommendations. It has also wi-fi and air conditioning. It's in the centre of town and is a casual / cafe type place.

I had lunch a couple of times and breakfast too. All the food is fresh, very flavoursome and it arrives quickly. I particularly enjoyed the baked sweet potato with the curry of the day and the spicy bean wrap. I wish I had time to try everything!

Definitely a must if you're in Glasgow. I wish there was a branch in London!

Pros: Value, Location, Fresh tasty food

Cool vegan cafe - Edit

I have had the pleasure of eating in picnic many times since it opened and can't recommend it highly enough. There's a great range of hot and cold food and salads ready to take away have recently been added to the menu. A few favourites of mine are the no egg mayo roll, the spicy bean wrap and the sweet potato with veg curry. The staff are helpful and friendly and the decor is light and airy. A great place to eat whether you're vegan or not.

Pros: Delicious food & friendly staff. Dogs are welcome

Disappointed - Edit

We had a lunch here and we were kind of disappointed.
Maybe we didn't try the good things...
One of the cakes (a chocolate/orange one) really contained TOO MUCH added sugar as it BURNT my mouth! It seems kind of weird for a place that presents its food as "healthy"...
The "spicy bean wrap" was also disappointing as its texture was reduced to a bean pâté with very little cheese and salad.
We also took the "pesto pasta salad" and a pie that were ok. So we guess it depends on what you choose.

Pros: Food can be great... , Nice place

Cons: TOO MUCH sugar added in some cakes.

MichellePicnic 05 Aug 2017 - Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

First of all, I'm sorry you were disappointed with your experience. We pride ourselves on offering fresh, healthy food for a reasonable price, so I'm sorry you feel let down.

We try to offer a wide range of food in order to attract non-vegan customers and vegans alike. Although a lot of our menu items are healthy, our customers do enjoy an occaisional treat with a cup of coffee.

We offer baked cakes and raw cakes. The raw cakes are aimed at the more health conscious customer and don't contain any refined sugars. The baked cakes do contain sugar and tend to be very popular for those with a sweet tooth. Of course, one person's sweet is another person's not sweet enough and - whilst we aim to please everyone - this isn't always possible. Did you bring the issue with the cake to the attention of our staff? If you didn't like it, we would happily have replaced it for you with something more to your liking.

The spicy bean wrap contains pureed beans, vegan cheese, spinach and salsa. This is one of our most popular items, so I'm sorry to hear it wasn't to your liking. Again, we would have replaced this for you if you'd let us know it wasn't something you enjoyed.

I'm glad to hear you were satisfied with your other choices and would like to thank you for your valuable feedback. i do hope you will give us another chance again soon.

Healthy and delicious - Edit

I have had the pleasure of visiting Picnic twice this year and it's now one of my favourite places to go when in Glasgow. On my first visit we ordered the raw tiramisu cake (£3.75) and chocolate caramel cake (£3.75) to share, which were absolutely superb. I would highly recommend both. We also ordered a coconut berry smoothie (£4.50) and a hot chocolate (£2.75) that again were excellent. The smoothie was very refreshing indeed and the hot chocolate was nice too. Most recently we popped in for breakfast and ordered the homemade cream cheese bagel (£4) and full breakfast (£8) that included asparagus and beetroot. The breakfast was delicious and healthy and quite possibly one of the finest breakfasts I have ever eaten. The bagel could have perhaps been a little bit more creamier but was still nice. The staff are very attentive and very friendly and it's the sort of place you can go just to to relax or socialise. I can't wait to go back again.

Pros: Healthy and delicious food, Lovely staff, Nice relaxing vibe

Lovely Lunch - Edit

Had a really nice lunch here with my non-veggie husband. I had the pastrami sandwich and a snowball and he had the baked sweet potato with hummus and pest. Both were very good, although I have to say that I found myself sneaking bites off his plate! The flavours were amazing. Would definitely recommend!

The croissant was phenomenal, and the oats loomed awesome. The bagel was good too

Amazing for everyone- not just the vegans! - Edit

This is a little gem of a place. It looks gorgeous and the staff are great but most importantly, the food is amazing. We were a group of 5, 2 of us vegan and 3 carnivores. The choice available was perfect and the food was all fresh and very tasty. We had the full breakfast, cream cheese bagel and BLT with a few juices and a cake, all of it was very tasty, with no faults at all.The non vegans were very satisfied too and certainly didn't feel like they were missing out. It was also really good value-
I would've happily paid double for everything we had. We would definitely return.

Pros: excellent food, great service, good value
