Friendly but disappointing - Edit
I went in around 3:45, no one else was there. A cook was sitting at the table and a kind gentleman took my order. Once I places my order the cook seemed annoyed to have to go to the kitchen but it came out quick. I’m not sure if the time I came in and the fact I was the only once there was the reason but the food was awful.
Read moreI got the pad kee mao and there was literally no taste except from the tomato and the bell peppers which were barely cooked. It somehow how also wasn’t hot even tho I ate it within 5 minutes of receiving it. The tofu was not good either, I hoped it would be fried but I usually still enjoy regular tofu. But it also was not cooked enough. I had high hopes for this place, not sure what happened.

Enjoyed - Edit
I really enjoyed the Tofu Todd appetizer, the sweet chili sauce paired with it was delicious. I also got the Pad Himapan which I wish had a little more salt, but I was still very good. Overall a good find in Mt. Shasta.

They offer a full vegan menu when you walk in. My husband is GF/Vegan he had options. I didn’t take a picture of our food because it was so good and I forgot. We definitely will stop again while traveling through.

Delicious Thai! - Edit
This was some of the best Thai I’ve had in a long time- and I eat Thai a LOT! I got green curry with tofu, and it was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. I got a level 3 spice which was really spicy (and I’m usually a spicy gal). Next time I’d take it down to a 2. But highly recommend nonetheless!

Really tasty - Edit
Loved the entirely vegan menu option. We got the Tofu Todd, cashews sauce one, and Tom kha. Was so flavorful and fresh. We got Thai spicy which was truly Thai spicy😵 excellent restaurant.

Ginormous vegan menu, good flavor - Edit
Phuket Thai is one of the most vegan-friendly of all the non-vegan restaurants we’ve tried in small-town California. There’s a two-page menu with dozens of vegan dishes spanning appetizers (just two), soups, curries, stir fries, rice and noodle dishes, and desserts. Even the Thai iced tea can be done vegan with coconut milk, and it’s quite good (not overly sweet).

They were happy to use our steel takeout containers, and for the one dish that didn’t fit they gave us a paperboard container.

Huge 100% Vegan Menu - Edit
We were happy to find this place while nearby. It’s cool that they have 2 separate menus clearly labelled “Vegan” and “Non-vegan”. The vegan menu has 32 items to choose from!
Read moreWe ordered 18V Tom kha w/ veg, 22V yellow curry w/ veg & tofu, 41V sautéed mixed veg in bean sauce, and 55V basil fried rice.
I’ve had many Tom kha’s over the years and this one was different - a lot darker in color and more tomatoey. Typically Tom kha is a white/beige broth or a hint of light orange color from chili oil. This soup had also stronger flavours. Very flavorful and fragrant. It was good, just different. But also slightly too salty - added more water & coconut milk when we got back home.
The yellow curry was yummy and my husband really enjoyed it.
The sautéed mixed veg in bean sauce - I thought it might be in a thicker sauce or something. I asked what the bean sauce was like but the gentleman taking orders wasn’t sure. Anyway, it turned out that it was sautéed veg in a thin soy sauce basically. Made me wish I chose something different.
We got the basil fried rice after seeing another review saying it was their favorite dish. It was good and definitely fragrant. But after several more bites I really noticed it was really lacking seasoning and tasted bland real quick. Would be great accompanying the curry though since the curry is more flavorful.
Overall, being in a town with a population of 3400 this place was okay. It’s fine that the inside looks super dated but it’s in desperate need of a deep cleaning...I could see years of dirty fingers touching light switches & door handles built up which would wipe clean with a sponge, pressure and water/vinegar or bleach/water. The floors need to be scrubbed and mopped, especially near the edges/walls. There was a lot of dust build up on many surfaces. From a distance/at a glance it’s not that bad but this place just really needs some TLC
Because of the reviews I thought this was going to be an epic gem but I didn’t find that to be the case - but to each their own.
I will say that they were pretty busy with orders 4 separate parties came in for pickup orders while we were there and the phone was ringing a lot with people placing more orders for pickup. So maybe it’s possible it happened to be a super busy night and they were rushing and missed some of the seasoning? So maybe this time was a one off? If we’re ever nearby - we might come back for another try, after the place gets a good deep cleaning.

Phuket Thai - Edit
The best authentic Thai food I've ever had. We had Pad Kee Mao (aka drunken noodles), Panang Curry with Tofu, and a salad with steamed tofu and a lime dressing, and finished with Tai iced tea with coconut milk. Everything was delicious with balanced harmonious flavors. The vegan menu is extensive (a refreshing change from the usual Thai restaurant need to request that menu items be made vegan). I look forward to trying more menu items the next time I'm in Mout Shasta.

Yummy vegan food - Edit
Really liked this place. They have a vegan menu, if you ask for it, with lots of options. We got the pineapple coconut curry, the pad kemau and the sticky rice pudding for dessert. All was great although I probably wouldnt get the desert again. And the coconut milk Thai ice tea is absolutely delicious!
