Ok for drinks, not for food

Pleasant location, nice outdoor seating. Only hot food on offer was vegetarian toasties, nothing vegan.
Go here if thirsty, but not hungry.

Pros: Pleasant staff

Cons: Very little in the way of vegan food

Went straight here from the airport after amazingly organised places in Helsinki

To be met by too cool for skool (well in their own heads anyway) slovenly half disinterested servers behind the bar.

They seemed like nice people but they don’t appear to have perspective of what dining atmosphere paying customers want when they choose to spend their money in a place.

I had the soup and sausage sarnie and waited for ages while the chef (who appeared to be doing nothing when I arrived) struggled with a few orders.

One customer was pacing up and down desperate for their order to be made as presumably they had somewhere to be as time is money in the big smoke.

The inside is very small and the loud staff seemed completely oblivious to the paying customers having their meals right in front of them.

One staff member shouted to another staff member who was on a storage mezzanine of some sort (directly above my head) “hey do us a favour and throw us down 4 rolls of toilet paper 🧻 would you mate” right as I was tucking into my vegan 🌱 sausage sarnie that had taken about 23 minutes to make.

Obviously paying customers are not forced to put up with them thank goodness as we just vote with our wallet.

Such a pity as the position is awesome and they are plant 🌱 based as are we. They inherited a good fit out from the previous tenant that must have gone bust.

Unfortunately I see this going in the same direction but I hope not as it could be really good.

I voted remain by the way as unfortunately after all my years in hospitality, I saw this kind of sh*T show coming

The future is vegan 🌱

Pros: Inherited a great position & great that’s it’s 🌱, Nice outside space , Chef was slow but was the only one with manners

Cons: Uncouth staff with bad manners , Sit outside so you don’t have to hear/see them , Hospitality is about being hospitable

Scrumptious sandwiches and pastries

I took my 4 year old here one Saturday morning this month and we had a great time, enjoyed seeing the exhibition downstairs and having our pick of some fresh vegan cakes and pastries before our very tasty bagel and sandwich arrived, looking forward to going back soon.

Lovely independent setting

This end of Shoreditch no longer seems to have the abundance of fully vegan places it had some years ago so it’s really good to see the Photo Book Café is now collaborating with Verde!
My chorizo melt was a perfect mix of sun-dried tomatoes, chorizo and mozza. I got to eat it in the presence of loads of arty books displayed on the shelves and that’s super cool. Some drinks items were out of stock and staff loudly wondering around preparing for later didn’t make one feel like the star of the show, but then again, the feeling was of a very independent business, plus fully vegan and books? Yay!
