Be careful

I have tried this restaurant a few times. One in-house experience was intolerable due to what seemed to be a staffing/training issue that was so uncomfortable that our party decided to leave. There were two staff members on the floor and one was yelling repeatedly at the other in front of the patrons, but not helping him with tables at all stages of rotation. We waited for about 20 minutes after being seated but nobody came and we left out of sympathy for the worker who was being humiliated.

We decided to try again on a quiet day and it was fine. There are several vegan options. I had a vegetable pho and fresh salad rolls. The pho was ok. A little bland, fresh vegetables though nothing special, a little light on the tofu, and medium sized portions. I would have had it again because it tasted fresh and clean, and I was confident from speaking with the server and from the menu that the restaurant ethos genuinely acknowledged vegan preferences. Their salad rolls are delicious and fresh (I’d had those before as takeout), very nice. The service was kind and the atmosphere was quiet.

Last night we ordered delivery: two vegetable soups and two orders of spring rolls. We specified vegan. They gave us pork spring rolls. I ate some before biting into gristle and realizing that the unusual taste and texture was not due to a difference in recipe or to a compromised sense of taste from Covid.

I understand that this was a mistake, and that I’m responsible for choosing to order from there, and for not double checking my food—I should have been more present while eating, for sure. At the same time, I feel like it is the responsibility of the establishment to honour their commitment to fulfilling food preferences if they are going to offer these options. The exchange between restaurant and patron is at least partly founded on trust—I trusted them based on the experience I’d had dining in with them. I want to point out that it wasn’t just one spring roll that was pork, it was all of them. So that was pretty horrible and it did make me physically sick and sad.

I’ve contacted the restaurant to let them know what happened, and I am waiting for a reply. I do not intend any malice to this business and I haven’t made any demand or request for anything from them. My review is intended as a warning to others who really do not want to consume animal flesh.

Nice and delicious

We were well welcomed by the nice waitress. The food were awesome and the portions were big. We ate so well there.

Pros: Good choices for vegetarian and vegans , So nice! , Not expensive
