Read moreJust had dinner at PhoNomenal with Mother. I am vegan, she is not. I’d read on HappyCow to ask the server to identify the vegan options, which she did. I ordered the veggie summer rolls, and Mother got the shrimp summer rolls for our appetizers. I asked for a different dipping sauce (comes with peanut, got sweet chili). Each order came with 2 rolls (quite filling).
Then came the “spice” discussion (dishes can be ordered from spice level 1-5), and I ordered the Tamarind Soup, spice 1, with tofu and rice (comes with rice or vermicelli). Mother ordered shrimp pho, which she said was fantastic.
When my soup came, it was so spicy that I couldn’t eat it (always possible with my palate!). Mother likes spicy, but it was a bit much for her, too. Ha apologized profusely, and ended up bringing me more tamarind soup “without spice.” It was amazing, fragrant and sweet. I transferred the tofu and veggies over, and it was perfect!
Despite a little spice-induced hiccup, it was an all around enjoyable evening. Great service, and good food.

Disappointing - Edit
There are 2 vegan entrees and "vegetarian"crispy spring rolls. Staff was nice & checked with the kitchen, but no other options/substitutions were offered. We ended up leaving bc there really wasn't anything worth the money.

The vegan options weren't labeled on the menu but the waitress was aware of the options when we asked.
Read moreWe ordered the vegetarian summer rolls and I was going to get the yellow curry but the waitress informed us they were out of the vegan curry sauce and recommended the tamarind soup with tofu as a vegan option.
The summer rolls were good and came with a yummy peanut sauce
The tamarind soup had good broth flavor, I was disappointed that they ran out of curry sauce because we've had the curry and it's very good
