Damn. When I saw how clean and chain-like this restaurant was, my expectations sank to expecting something like Wagamama. But it wasnt like Wagamama… it was really, really good. I got the hot and spicy tofu mushroom soup with rice instead of noodles and loved it. They were cool about doing rice instead of noodles. The broth was so rich and had such a deep umami flavor and nice acidity. The toppings were whatever. I really liked the chili oil they had on the table. It wasn’t super spicy, but had some heat, great flavor, and a crispy texture.

As someone with a bad gluten intolerance, Pho is the restaurant I feel the absolute safest ordering from! All but about three menu items are gluten free and almost everything can be adapted to be vegan! You can swap to veggie broth and have a choice of veg, tofu, or ‘just’ chicken alternative to make pretty much any dish vegan. Vietnamese food is definitely my favourite!

Pho is one of those chains that are a go-to for me when I need food that will satisfy my tastebuds but also offers something for non-vegan friends. I usually always order the vegan mushroom and tofu pho, unfortunately they were out of the tofu that normally goes in it. However, they offered to add a different type of tofu that normally goes into one of their rice dishes instead and I thought that was great. Their summer rolls are also delicious, I highly recommend them!
