delicious affordable food - Edit

I was a bit skeptical it was vegan because the menu says vegetarian and the pictures used in the menu did not look veg at all but the nice lady who runs the restaurant with her family reassured us everything was indeed vegan and that they were using tofu for all the "meaty" plates. We were amazed by the cheap prices and by the amazingly delicious food. It was funny that it was warmed in the microwave in front of the clients but we really liked the authenticity of the place and they had nothing to hide. We ordered a lot of food and it was very affordable compare to other vegan restaurants in Montreal. It's kid friendly as well. HOWEVER, BE AWARE! This restaurant should not be put in the vegan category. Last time we ordered there, I asked a couple of bubble teas for the kids and since I wasn't sure how it was made, I asked the young girl who was at the service at that time to show me what they were using for the bubble tea and she showed me very passively without knowing what I wanted condensed COW'S MILK. She was nice to make one with coconut milk instead but if I didn't ask she wouldn't hesitate to use that milk. The restaurant is great but they could definitely work a little on the communication and Happy Cow should put this restaurant in the vegetarian section NOT VEGAN.

Great Vegan food - Edit

Pho Da Son is a family run restaurant serving vegan Buddhist temple style food. It looks exactly like it would in a food court in Vietnam. Cheap seating, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly staff make it fun. If you expect cloth napkins and formality this place will turn you off. If you are a true vegan and living in the vegan dessert that is Montreal then you will enjoy the variety of the food here. Food is prepared ahead and placed in a refrigerated counter, so with the buffet, you choose what you want and heat it up and grab a bowl of rice. I counted over 20 prepared dishes that you can choose from. They are the most satisfying mock meats ever and so many veggie dishes all for 12$ and all you can eat. They have a la carte too and the soup is so good. meals are about $6.50 each. So a reminder, it is informal and family oriented with lots of Asian customers and even some coming from NY and New Brunswick.

I loved it! I just ate there and the food was great and so savoury and fresh! Definitely going back! The restaurant is clean and my chop sticks were also clean. My experience was awesome and I am very very picky and not shy to say so when I am not satisfied but this place was yummy! Had the Bún dâu hù Chà Giò ❤️

Worst (vegan) restaurant ever - Edit

I'm very sad to say this but I think it is my worst experience in a veg' restaurant. I totally agree with Suzzz6: the place is quite dirty, the food is not very fresh and very oily. I had a dish with seitan and rice, and it was like they splashed it on the plate. They also served a peanut sauce that was already dry on the edges of the bowl, as if it was in it for many days. My friend ordered the Vietnamese crepe that was very oily and not very good. We ordered fried spring rolls that were served raw... And we were told that was perfectly normal. The staff is relatively friendly but the place has to be avoided!

Cons: dirty, not fresh food, oily

Worst vegan restaurant - Edit

Dirty floors, dirty spoons, unpleasant smell, old veggies, microwaved dishes, gross soups, very oily and salty food. Really cheap food for a very cheap price. Owner is nice though.

Don't go there if you're epicurean!

Great place to try veggie meats - Edit

Small family owned restaurant located in a strip mall. The decor and simple, nothing fancy and the service is very friendly. The owner had us try a bit of everything from their buffet and we enjoyed most of it. They heat up their buffet dishes in the microwave, which is a bit of a turn off, but understandable since there are so many dishes out at once. Next time, we'll try their à la carte menu, which they seem to make on order. (No microwaving) Overall, we liked the experience and will probably be back to try more since it was tasty and really cheap. Their buffet is $12 per person while most of their dishes on the à la carte menu are around $7. It's entirely vegan btw

Pros: Very inexpensive, Extensive vegan menu

Cons: Use of microwave

The only option in the area - Edit

There is basically no other vegetarian restaurant in the area, but fortunately, this is a great place.

There are many options to choose from in the extensive menu, or you can also opt for the buffet. No matter what you do, it's going to be very affordable.

I would recommend getting the spring rolls with peanut sauce. They were fabulous.

The Vietnamese crepe with veggies was also quite interesting.

You can also buy hard to find products like vegan deer meat, other mock meats and vegetarian fish sauce.

Pros: Excellent value, Lots of seating, Free tea

Cons: Service could be more courteous, Nothing interesting in the area

Really impressed! - Edit

I found that restaurant because I was in the neighbourhood, and I was really impressed by the food and the quality. The food is real traditionnal vietnamese flavour but all turned into vegetarian options. There is no meat at all in the restaurant which is amazing. Some of the plates are named after meat dishes like "beef noodles" or "pork noodles" but I assure you it is just for show. Best of all, the prices werw incredible! Each main dish costs 5,99$CAD each. I would definitely come back.

Pros: lots of vegan options

Cons: none
