Too bad it’s a boat ride away

This place was great. Had the Vegan Rancheros and Blush smoothie. Loved every bit of it!

Pros: Quaint, Good selection

Great spot for quick vegan/gf options on the island

Loved grabbing a bite to eat at Persephone’s. I got a smoothie bowl and they made sure the granola was vegan for me (the owner went and checked the packaging to confirm). They have Just Egg for breakfast sandwiches and other baked goods. Super friendly and perfect stop on the island since there aren’t many other options.

Pros: Smoothie bowl , Gluten free friendly

Lots of vegan options

I’ve had the vegan rancheros and the strawberry cream bowl (coconut cream), and both were delicious. Soy matcha was good too. They l have just egg and a toast with vegan ricotta. Milk options for coffee/tea are almond, soy, oat, and coconut, and they also had some nice iced teas and smoothies.

Pros: Soy, oat, almond, and soy milk, Just egg sandwiches

Cons: Only a few tables

Handful of Vegan Options

For an Island that's vegan offerings can be summed up by shared-fryer french fries at seafood restaurants and bland veggie burgers that are likely served on buns containing eggs, having a place that serves JustEgg sandwiches and vegan baked goods is a breath of fresh air. There were also a number of vegan-by-default quinoa dishes and the like. Plenty of plant milks to sub in your latte as well. If you're looking for awesome vegan food, Block Island (and Rhode Island as a whole) isn't a great destination, but if you're on the island for a day, Persephone's is a worthwhile stop for a cafe breakfast.

Pros: Vegan breakfast sandwich, Vegan baked goods, Savory vegan breakfast

Cons: Serves meat, egg, cheese, Expensive, Not super flavorful

Solid Veg-Options

Persephone’s is very pleasant with nice outdoor benches. My mom and I both got the Vegan Huevos Rancheros bowl which has really great mashed sweet potato and fresh avo! I almost got the avocado toast which seemed to look good. They had a lot of coffee options with almond and soy milk alternatives ( $.50 unfortunately). We got fresh watermelon and grapes which were great. Overall super good tasting. If you have a vegan option, it’s gotta be good.

Pros: Solid vegan option, Well-priced

Cons: Not many vegan options

Could Improve

I feel like this place can offer a lot more vegan options. There aren't too many place to get vegan options on the island. I had the avocado toast and a smoothie while I was here. The smoothie was okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't seem to have enough flavor for me. It had a good consistency, but I'd want to order other another to see if that was a common theme. The avocado toast had a refreshing and smooth flavor, but the bread to topping ratio was very off. I tasted more bread than I tasted avocado. If it had more of a topping, I'd strongly recommend it. I'd want to go again just to see if my experience was just fluke.
