Mr P Smith - Edit
Hidden gem, I noticed a sign outside the florists shop. I walked into the beautiful walled garden area. It was so clean and tidy. They had a beautiful floral border to look at with a brew & cake. The staff were polite and friendly, it was a fab place to visit! We will be back, especially as it's a dig friendly cafe!

Lovely dog friendly place - Edit
We go here regularly on our dog walks and it’s always a nice treat that they have vegan cakes, vegan rolls and they can make vegan versions of most of their toasties and sandwiches.

Lovely Place, Fabulous Coffee, Disappointing Baking - Edit
We spotted the place on FB and when their website promised vegan and gluten free cakes and pastries "..., all lovingly crafted by our talented baker, Terri." we knew we needed to check it out! This proved to be rather generous (we'd say false) advertising though, as when we asked which these hand-crafted items were all the savoury pastries and 95% of the cakes were bought in. Us retirees frequent enough coffee shops to recognise the usual (particularly the GF/Vegan) offerings when we see them and while they stock the better ones, they weren't the home-baked delicacies we were hoping for having seen their website. The home-made offerings they did have were all just very basic GF single-layer sponges with various icings on top and our non-vegan friend said the coffee cake they tried was "very average and a bit dry". Very disappointing considering their hype!
Read moreThe vegan rolls however are absolutely delicious, cheaper than other places sell the same ones, and worth the trip alone. Other vegan savoury options are limited though we were told they did offer hot and cold vegan sandwiches/vegan cheese on toast, etc. We were surprised to be asked if our vegan roll needed cooking seperately from my friend's meat sausage roll...surely this is done automatically for all "free-from" foods to prevent cross-contamination? We were assured it would be and had every confidence that it was.
The coffee was some of the best we've tasted and the gentleman making it definitely knew his stuff. All their non-dairy milk options are free too which makes a welcome change. Vegan or not it's worth a visit for the coffee! We sampled a couple of the vegan cakes, the slices were big enough to share, and both were fresh and delicious.
We'll definitely be back and would reccomend to fellow vegans every time, just don't expect the fabulous home baking they wax lyrical about online! Staff couldn't have been more helpful and considering they were packed the service was pretty quick.
Pros: Very reasonably priced, Good selection of vegan cake, Alternative milks are free substitutions
Cons: "Lovingly crafted" bakes are few & nothing special, Could have more savoury vegan options

Lovely Vegan rolls - Edit
Friendly cafe tucked away in the walled garden at the rear of Cannon Hall. There are a few vegan choices and we really enjoyed vegan cheese on toast (nice bread too) and home made vegan roll (again another lovely choice). Good coffee and plant based milks available. The attached hall is an interesting place to visit while you’re there too

Lovely little cafe with courtyard seating - Edit
Was pleasantly surprised to find that this cafe had several vegan options including plant milks, vegan rolls and pastries, and a couple of vegan panini options. Also many cakes - apparently the bakewell tart is amazing but unfortunately they had already sold out of a fair few things when I got there. The salted caramel cheesecake was delicious and the staff kindly offered me mayo to go with my panini as well. The prices were reasonable and the settings absolutely beautiful in the walled garden. Will be back asap!

Surprised to find this place! - Edit
Had been struggling to find a good range of vegan cake when on holiday in Yorkshire and was very happy to find this cafe when visiting Cannon Hall. Bought one of everything (5 cakes and 2 pies) to takeaway!

Make sure you go here not the Pavillion Pantry!
