Relaxing vegan paradise - Edit
A gorgeous collection of houses and chalets set in a garden setting around a swimming pond. Everything is vegan so you don't need to double check all the time. Scrumptious breakfasts of fruit / oats and an amazing frittata made from chick pea / gram flour. We had a beautiful 'secret' dinner where Jen cooked up a delightful 3 course meal for the 5 of us. The homemade vegan fig and chocolate ice cream was off the scale for being delicious. Great place to unwind and relax.

Paradise - Edit
Peace of Eden is a nature lovers paradise and a totally vegan lodge. They are nestled in a lovely forested area near Knysna on the Garden Route with woodland walks, a small lake and monkeys and other wildlife on the property.
Read moreI had lovely chats with Jen, Howard and Jess who run the place and live an eco life in a totally inspiring way. They are very welcoming in every way and happy to share their love of nature as well as wonderful vegan cooking ideas.
The dinners are not only delicious but also beautifully presented. These must be booked in advance and other than telling them what allergies and aversions you have the meals are a surprise as they use seasonal produce and much that is grown in their own garden - and the results are a treat for the senses.
It's especially wonderful that all Lodge bookings are responded to with a reminder that there is a vegan ethos at Peace of Eden and asking self catering guests to support this and not bring meat onto the property.
It's not often I get the chance to stay in a totally vegan place and I'm so happy I found Peace of Eden. Altogether a relaxing place to stay with an unhurried and peaceful vibe.
Pros: Excellent food, Friendly hosts and staff, Peaceful and beautiful location

Lovely cottages, amazing food, down-to-earth people - Edit
Stayed here one night while on a road trip on the garden route. I was thrilled to find out it was a vegan place! The place has a very laid back vibe, any questions can be directed to anyone roaming around. It is a little place hidden in Knysna that fits the "Peace of Eden" name brilliantly. Along with stunning cottages, the area has beautiful (dare I say) instagram-worthy shots all across the property. Lovely little paths, ponds, and gardens all over the place. The owners are very zen and welcoming. I spoke a bit with one of the owners who described the place as self sustaining which I thought was very neat! One thing to keep in mind is that in order to have dinner there you need to make a reservation in advance even if you are staying there, however breakfast you can just show up for. Superb food considering the limited vegan products found in South Africa. It is a perfect getaway if you want to get away from the world and be a part of a strong, caring community for a bit. They also have fantastic wi-fi for South Africa so you can still stay connected if you please. Definitely one of the greatest places I have ever stayed at and it was heart-warming to be around such like-minded individuals who care about the planet, what they eat, and share the same morals as we do. Highly recommended!!!

Magical stay with amazing Vegan food - Edit
An enchanting forest stay, magical pathways meander through the woods where we stayed in retro tents on stilts in the forest, waking up to sounds of monkeys, birds and at night we could hear a chorus of frogs and the hoot of owls.
Read moreThe vegan Breakfasts are to die for, we had yummy crepes with fruit and dark chocolate sauce plus an awesome vegan chickpea omelette, tasted like the real thing too! and their 3 course Vegan Dinners are 5 star country cuizine, easily restaurant standard.

A firework of flavors! - Edit
In an incredible beautiful surrounding of nature forest we had probably the best vegan meal ever: A firework of Marrocan flavors lovely decorated and personally served by the cook and owner Jen. As previous head cook in London she definitely knows how to conjure most delicious and creative dishes! We were so glad that we haven't brought our own supper..!
