This place is the best - Edit
As far as veggie goes Myanmar is the best, probably second only to the bus street in phuket town.
Read moreThis place is super good. I got a few different salads and a curry. It was all great - sour and spicy add it should be. One thing I hadn't had before was a avocado salad. I would recommend it if the are on season.
On a last note, the restaurant also supports local ladies from the community who need it. If awesome local food isn't enough to get you to go, tossing in a little philanthropy should be enough to push you over the line.

The guy is cute and the girls who are working there are not only nice buy extremely talented. They pay attention to everything and take care of you in a way you'll feel welcomed at a friend's house.
Read moreThe food is really tasty and there are plenty of choices, all delicious. Drinks are homemade, refreshing and for once in Asia, they are not plenty of sugar.
There are many vegan options and everything can be veganized. They offered me to do some pancakes without eggs and with soy milk, it's was delicious !
It's a must - go in town !
We also booked a boat tour for the day on the lake. It was amazing and the guy was really nice.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Everything can be veganised, Super friendly staff

My favourite restaurant in all of Myanmar! - Edit
Great homemade food, amazing staff, beautiful ambiance, an all girl team, vegan and vegetarian friendly, very affordable, and a great cause as well! I have tried almost all of the items on their menu, all are fresh, healthy, tasty and prepared in a very clean environment.
Read moreThe best part is that PawPaw is more than just a restaurant, it is run entirely by women with the profits going to help the local community through a multitude of social projects that the owner of this restaurant takes on, from empowering young girls from local villages to assistance with education at the local schools. I highly recommend booking your boat tour/trek/taxi through PawPaw restaurant, for the best rate, and knowledge that you are helping the local community.
PS. Try the smoothie bowl!!

Wonderful! - Edit
Ladies that run the place are absolutley lovely! Most dishes I tried was great, that being said don't go for the tea leaf salad as other places do it much better. Plenty of options for vegans.

We went here for lunch twice as we loved the ethos behind this place - helping and supporting local girls and women by providing them with employment. The food was freshly prepared and cooked - you could hear them chopping away in the kitchen! They also list on the menu about vegan options and gluten free options are clearly marked too. There are smoothie bowls for breakfast and amazing Shan tofu noodles for lunch/dinner. Our only small critique was that the tamarind sauce didn’t have much flavour but aside from that we enjoyed everything we ate here. We also loved playing with the resident cat and chatting to the lovely owner. All the girls were welcoming and friendly, providing you with great hospitality. A must visit.

Fresh foods and friendly staffs! - Edit
I have had amazing breakfast and lunch there. After reasonable breakfast at my hostel I went to this place. I was doubting between smoothie bowl or just Burmese food. I asked the girl which one she would recommend me. Also I told her I’m vegan. She pointed to some meals. I decide to take Burmese stir fried vegetables with tofu and cashew. It’s very good prepared. I ordered dragon fruit and avocado smoothie, unfortunately electric was shut down. I got juice instead. It was not to drink actually. But the owner apologized for that. I don’t blame her.
Read moreLater at the lunch I came back to PawPaw. I ordered pumpkin curry with tofu and tomato salad. It seems that salad was little different than I ordered and pumpkin was ok. That’s sad. I hope they will improve next time. But I can’t help I love their idea of this business to support local women and girls. The owner is very kind woman. Definitely I would recommend you to stop by this very good and decent place. Look at pictures with their latest menu.
Pros: Fresh foods, Friendly staffs , Supporting community

Tasty food + a great project to support - Edit
Food is tasty and freshly made. It’s true this is not a veg*n restaurant, but indeed they are VERY veg*n sensitive. In the menu they expressly say they can make you a veg*n version of almost any dish.
Read moreOn top of this, Tzi Tzi (the owner) is supporting a social-responsibility project, here at PawPaw: they help young women by teaching them a job, they pay part of their university fees, they support single-women and their kids.
DON’T MISS THIS SPOT: you’ll have the chance to enjoy fresh, tasty food while supporting a fair development of Burma and their people!!
WELL DONE TZI TZI! :))
Pros: Vegan options, Social-responsibility project, Owner and location great
Cons: None

epitome of loving kindness eating. would be 5* if allowed! - Edit
Had the vegan tofu and coconut curry here and came back for the pumpkin as well (which was my fave). Absolutely delicious and a welcome change from (albeit lovely) every day food I’ve been eating for a month around Myanmar. I would also add that this tofu is real tofu and not egg tofu and vegetarian and vegan options are labelled on the menu. Really cute place as well.
Read moreI saw the breakfast menu which looks gorgeous and they have their own baked BROWN bread which comes with the tea leaf salad and breakfast options.
I might also add that I’m delighted to see such positive reviews by vegans and vegetarians on Tripadvisor.

Don't go for dinner - Edit
We went here for dinner and it was not good. From what the other reviews say, maybe it's better for breakfast? We got two juices, both were super watery and bland. We got the avocado salad and the tomato salad, which were okay/average. We got the vegan shan noodles, they tasted like nothing and the noodles were mushy. I wouldn't go back and I wouldnt recommend this place. It was also really expensive, I know it's tourist prices but there are other places around with the same kind of food but better and a bit cheaper. The service was weird also. It's a shame the food is bad because it's a cute restaurant and it's cool that they actually put the word vegan on the menu.
Read morePros: Vegan options, with the word vegan on the menu.
Cons: Expensive for what it is. Horrible food & juices.

Great porridge served here, can be made vegan.
Read moreVegan pancakes in the menu and they are tasty!
I had a couple of smoothie bowls which were good.
Portions are not huge so that means you can order two things ;)
All fresh made so takes a little while.
Coffee is not up to western standards, goto Genius Cafe on the harbour for caffeine hit (they have an AeroPress!)
Pros: Vegan pancake , Vegan porridge
Cons: Bad coffee , A little wait
