Traditional Mon Food in Aid of a great cause

My wife contacted them a day in advance and explained our requirements for vegan food and without having peanuts.

They buy everything fresh from the market the next day and it showed. 3 superb dishes, 2 Mon Salads and a Spinach curry type dish. Pumpkin soup, chilli side dish and raw washed vegetables & coriander.
All delicious, all traditional Mon dishes without a doubt.

Vegetarians & those without slight peanut allergies would undoubtedly have even more options.

For 4 people, the total was 11,500 Kyats. Very affordable and everything clearly explained by the lovely Jack who seems to be the point of contact and knows what is required since 'Ta-ta-lo' can ensure that eggs will be excluded but don't be too sure about the soup or curry stock in many places that 'understand'

Your hotel may have to help you with directions for the taxi driver but it is well worth it and supports Mon women facing hardship and is aimed at helping to preserve its profile.

When we were there we dined alone as 4 vegetarians as it appears to be low on the traveller radar at present and not somewhere that you would ever accidentally find. It may be the case that other diners may be present that are eating meat. Ask Jack to clarify that you would like everything cooked separately and they may be able to oblige.

I'd rate this as a 5 star experience in a social enterprise which respects vegan and vegetarian cooking. As a mixed restaurant, the maximum that HC will permit is a 4*...

Pros: Great flavours, Genuine Mon, Super friendly and good value

Cons: Requires planning a day ahead, preferably 2?
