Best vegan pizza!

Although Pala serves meat, they have a clearly marked vegan menu with pasta and pizza items. The pizzas are truly delicious. I believe they use Field Roast products for their vegan sausage. The pizza is as close to authentic Italian pizza as you can get, I do believe. Of course, it's more expensive than say, Two Boots, but the food and atmosphere is also very different.

Pala is a relaxing, somewhat chic restaurant. The front of the restaurant is made up of garage doors that open up during warmer months. It's candle-lit in the evenings. Pala serves fancy cocktails that cost a pretty penny but are truly potent and delicious.

The pizza is remarkable. I can't wait to go back!!!

Pros: Upscale vegan pizza, Romantic atmosphere, Vegan menu clearly marked

Cons: Kind of pricey but worth it

Best GF vegan pizza in NYC

Extensive vegan menu of pizza & pasta. A few salads and appetizers can also be vegan. All vegan pizzas can be ordered with gluten-free or regular dough, and all pastas can be gluten-free or regular.

The only bad things about this place are that they're not open for lunch during the week and that they refuse to make pizza with no cheese. All their pizzas are either Daiya vegan cheese or regular dairy cheese. So if you get someone with allergies who can't do either, they would have to order something other than pizza.

Exposed brick indoors, and outdoor seating in the summertime. Big wine list. Great place to take a group with some vegans and some carnivores. Definitely make reservations if you're going for dinner.

While most people dine in, they also do very good takeout. The pizzas are big, and you must order a whole pizza - no slices. If you are not splitting a pizza, you may not want to get a salad or appetizer.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Many gluten-free options, Reasonable prices ($20-40/person for dinner)

Cons: All pizzas MUST come with Daiya or dairy cheese, Not open for weekday lunch

Authentic Italian done Vegan!

Pala definitely nailed their vegan menu! The pastas are delicious, and the pizzas are some of the best I've had! I would recommend skipping the appetizers and getting an extra pie because they're so good!

Pros: vegan options very clearly marked, great pizza selection

Tasty expensive pizzas

Staff is very service minded. The pizza bottoms are very good, but in total the pizzas are average. For 20 dollars I expect much more.

Pros: Service, Good pizza bottoms

Cons: To expensive

Great, but pricey

Loved it, even my non-veg boyfriend enjoyed the vegan-gluten-free pizzas! Just a little too overpriced in my opinion.

Pros: vegan and gluten free menu clearly marked

Cons: expensive

They took a stand, albeit not very kind

Went here for lunch on a Sunday - there were no other patrons there. Menu said no substitutions or omissions as the menu was crafted for the flavor combinations. However, a member of my party has many other allergies other than gluten, one being coconut which is a main ingredient in the vegan cheese on their pizzas. They refused to serve the pizza without this cheese. I find it interesting that they care about someone becoming physically ill if they have gluten but don't really give a rip when it affects their flavor profiles. So. Chef is more important than customers. That is, of course, their choice and yes, it was clearly written on the menu, but I found the lack of caring extremely disappointing.

Pros: Place looks nice, Menu looked interesting

Cons: Perplexing inflexibility

Vegan and Gluten Free

Everywhere in NYC you see people selling and eating pizza. That's great if you want to have some dairy cheese, meat and wheat flour, but if you want to forego one of those, or two or all, it becomes more challenging to find pizza that actually tastes good.

This review is just for their pizza, and like other reviewers have said - it's pretty gosh darned good. My only gripe is their unwillingness to alter the menu items. Conveniently, their menu is extremely vegan friendly, with half of it pretty much being vegan. Also, about half of the vegan menu or more, really, is gluten free. This is amazing, considering the heart of pizza and Italian cuisine seems to reside upon dairy cheese and wheat flour.

This place is a godsend, because you can drag your non-veg*n people somewhere and try to convince them to eat veg*n, or… just eat your delicious veg*n food and tell them to try some and notice that it's just as good (better, really). The crust is not tough or chalky or pasty or tasteless - it's thin crust gluten-free vegan done exceptionally well.

I love the outdoor seating with the indoor seating and open feel to the restaurant's vintage, old-time decor. It highlights the focus on the pizza ovens.

The attitude is typical City-tude: can't seat you until all your party is here. Reservations are rampant and highly suggested, so do so!

The menu is extensive, and I love that there are 3 different gluten free pastas. I love that there are antipasti, salads, pasta and pizza with multiple options in all categories. The only limitation is the price. While portions are decent, the price prevents me from ever wanting to splurge from the foodie perspective.

Still, if you want classy vegan, gluten-free pizza, go here. It is awesome.

Pros: Gluten-free is vegan, Vegan menu is extensive, Top quality food/ ingredients

Cons: Seated only when whole party present, No substitutions of any kind, Prices

Fantastic

Great vegan pizza in the Lower East Side. Very nice setting and the staff are polite and attentive. Perhaps a touch on the pricey side and would probably reserve for special occasions, although I'm craving another potato and broccolini pizza now just thinking about it. Check it out.

Pros: vegan options, great taste

Cons: price

Great vegan menu, could do with some diversity

The food and service here were both really good, but the entrees suffer a bit from lack of creativity. Or, to be precise, ingredients. The gnocchi, for example, is delicious but it is not much more than gnocchi with tomato sauce and daya cheese. Some vegetables would have been nice. Still a good place to eat though.

Pros: service , vegan menu

Tasty!

This is a nice little pizza place on the north end of the Lower East Side that serves meat and dairy, but about 1/3 of the menu (back page) is vegan. I had the arrabiata pizza, with no cheese (I am not a Daiya fan), and I talked them into adding soy sausage. Apparently, the management is opposed to substitutions/alterations to their pizzas, but they took care of me. It was very good. Thin crust, fresh, and flavorful.

Pros: nice ambiance, fresh , reasonable prices

Cons: no modifications
