Great indonesian dishes! - Edit
We discovered this well hidden food stand at Malioboro mall thanks to Happy Cow (follow the indications in the description!) and were pleasantly surprised! Plenty of indonesian dishes with tofu, tempeh or fake meat. Recommend!

Wie schon oft beschrieben, die Mall heißt „Malioboro Mall“ und ist eigenständig, die auffälligere Mall ist das „Malioboro Plaza“, es gibt aber keine Verbindung zwischen den beiden. Also einmal um das Novotel rum und links davon den Schilder nach. Das Essen war schnell fertig, günstig und sehr lecker. Die Portionsgröße war nicht riesig aber ausreichend. Man kann auch noch etwas dazubestellen wie Tempeh oder Tofu.

As mentioned it’s in the mall just down the side of the main entrance to Novotel. You go upstairs to the 3rd floor and it’s the first stall on the left.

Good, cheap Indonesian vegan; weird location - Edit
Located in the food court on the top floor of Malioboro Mall, but note that there are actually two malls with this name. This place is *not* in the Malioboro Mall that faces the street. To get to the correct mall, you can go through (or around) that mall and go toward the Novotel Suites. When you see the front entrance of the hotel, go left instead. The correct mall is down a narrow alley.
Read moreThe food here is quite cheap and of high quality. Portions are a little small, even for the combos, so I'd recommend getting some sides as well. Menu is in Indonesian, but there are pictures. Place your order and take the receipt to the cashier to pay (but grab some drinks from the drink counter first, if you want em).
Worth the hassle of the annoying journey to locate it.

Very tasty vegan Nasi Padang. My boyfriend is Indonesian and eats meat and he loved it and couldn't tell the difference. Would definitely eat it again.

To find go to Novotel hotel and just before the entrance to the left. Food is ok. Rather unhealthy, fried. Inexpensive and quite ok for a quick meal. Eating experience sucks though, music playing from few places at the same time, its inside mall.

The food was so delicious and inexpensive! I saw a review saying the portion size wasn’t huge, which wasn’t what I found. It was a generous serving and so tasty. However, we struggled to find the place as we searched the mall one night and was told the mall was split into two, so the food court was in the second half. We couldn’t find an entrance until the next day we wandered into the Novotel car park and saw signs for entrance to the Malioboro mal. Well worth the effort though as it was so tasty!

Padang is in the food court on the third floor of a mall between the train station and Kraton. It’s menu offers a combination plate that varies by the type of vegan protein included (tofu, tempeh, mushroom rendang, jackfruit, soy rendang, soy fish, fried potato balls).
Read moreI really enjoyed the vegan fish and potato balls the most for their texture and seasoning. You can order a la carte but the value is generally much better getting a second plate. You can also order a drink or other food from other food court vendors as you pay at a single counter. Save your receipts!

This place was great for a quick cheap meal. Interesting dishes with lots of combinations to try. I think I had a veggie rendang which was ready tasty. Not particularly friendly service or large serving, but that's the style and it's great for what it is!

This vegan restaurant is on the third floor of the Malioboro Mall within a foodcourt. You order at the counter and then pay at a seperate desk, over 50k they accept card payment. After that you are served on the table. It was only 20k for a dish. We also ordered an extra piece of tempeh for 3k. It was really tasty. The only downside for me was the pulled jackfruit which did not have the perfect texture and taste. I also would have loved a little bit more vegetables. But still a very good experience.

Read moreSet menu meal for about 25 rupiah. We shared a couple of meals, which was a reasonable amount of food for two. Both had rice, sambal, stir fried greens, jackfruit curry and one with fried tempe and one with rendang. Good head from sambal, jackfruit was very tasty. The tempe was amazing, so much flavour, and nice and crispy!

After spending some time in Surakarta, where there are very few vegan restaurants or vegan options in general. It was lovely to come here and try some authentic all vegan Indonesian food. The portions are a good size, you get some rice with your choices of protein and some vegetables too. Wouldn’t recommend to someone who can’t handle spicy though. There are 15 different “pakets” to choose from and they have some sides on the menu too. Food was cheap (25000 Rp) and came quickly so can’t complain about anything.

This little place is located on the 3rd floor of Malioboro mall and does good food for a decent price! Lots of packets, meaning rice with various sides and additional foods, as well as side dishes. I had packet 1 (rice with jackfruit, meaty mushrooms, veg, sambal and cucumber) with Ayam Goreng (mock chicken). Really tasty and great portion for the price.

Lots of options and very good value for money. It’s all Indonesian vegan dishes which is great as it’s nice to be able to try local food that’s vegan. We have been 3 times now during our stay in Yogyakarta as it’s really tasty.
