Good option in Chiang Khong - Edit
Went here based on reviews and enjoyed the pad thai. Dedicated page on the menu of vegetarian options. Fairly busy with a mix of foreigners and Thai.

Relaxed atmosphere, good food - Edit
Food is served one by one in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant is always busy, also with Thai clients; a good sign. All we ate was delicious. The only minor: if you ask for very spicy, you get a little bit spicy. But no problem with chili on the table.

Good options and price - Edit
Menu has vegetarian section. Good prices. We ordered pad Thai (ask without egg) and papaya salad (ask without fish or shrimp sauce). They understood we wanted it ‘vegan’ in their own words which was good’. Both meals tasty.

Go-to place in Chiang Khong - Edit
The Bamboo Mexican restaurant is currently closed, so this appears to be the only option.
Read moreThe vegan and vegetarian dishes are clearly marked, and the food is cheap and tasty.
As others have said, the service is a bit slow but I suggest you read their slow food manifesto hanging on the wall and enjoy the shady garden while you wait.

Previous Recommendation Spot On - Edit
Great find when we finally found it (initial mapping wrong, now corrected). A lot of foreigners there waiting for the slow boat on the Mekong the next morning. Food prepared to order, expect to wait; also if eating with others don’t expect to be served at the same time. Kitchen visible as you walk in. Had the green curry which came the first time with chicken and was returned. Got my order vegan after an additional wait. My friend had the bean sprouts and tofu and enjoyed. Curry was good, should have order rice with it. Went again next day and I had a spicy dish with tofu, also good. I would definitely recommend. No problem if vegetarian to order from dedicated page. If vegan, have to be explicit…i.e. use a translator. Extremely reasonable prices.

Une tuerie - Edit
Bonne portion, les plats végétariens sont très bons. Les springs rolls ainsi que le curry et les légumes sautés aux noix de cajou.

Funky outdoor cafe along the Maekhong. - Edit
Just across the road from the massage school in the centre of Chiang Khong. A fully English menu with a dedicated veg page couldn't make eating any easier in this part of Thailand. I tried the veg pad Thai followed by green curry tofu. Yummy.
