AMAZING!

Just passing through town and found this place online. So many vegan options! I got the BBQ tofu wrap and my husband got the falafel wrap - both were delicious! We grabbed a couple cookies as well and they had multiple options. The staff was super friendly and it just seemed like a wonderful family owned spot. We’ll be back anytime we pass through!!

Delicious!

I had the Nepalese burrito and my omni friend had the borscht and sandwich combo. The burrito was huge and delicious. Somehow I ate it all. My friend said hers was very tasty (and the borscht is vegan). We both bought some sweets from the counter as well. Ask about these. They aren't labeled. The owner(?) Is vegan and said when she bakes, she bakes vegan, but sometimes another person bakes and adds eggs to the recipes. 🤷 There were at least 5 vegan options today.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

So many choices!

Stopped here with my son and had a great experience. Everyone working was so nice and I’m not used to having so many vegan options that it’s hard to choose one! I got the filet of ish and my son the bbq tofu wrap. We also had some cookies from the case. Everything was great and we’ll definitely be stopping here again if we’re in the area!

Pros: So many vegan options , Most of their baked goods are vegan, Reasonable prices

Great experience each time

The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have had the OyVey Vegan Burrito (too big for me to eat in one sitting) and falafel platter. Both were full of flavors.

Better Than Expected!

Would definitely give Oy Vey 5 stars if I could! My wife and I went here on a whim and were blown away by the whole experience! The staff is friendly and very inviting. All of the vegetables are grown on site and sauces are made in store. They do serve meat products, but everything is cooked separate to avoid contamination. I ordered the BBQ Tofu Wraps with a side order of pasta salad and a chocolate dipped cherry cookie... it was all amazing! We will definitely be coming back!

Not great

I ordered fresh squeezed lemonade, vegan fish sandwich, and vegan mash potatoes with gravy.

The lemonade was freshly squeezed from a lemon concentrate bottle.
The tofu fish was quite flavorless, however the bread and sauce were good.
I’m not sure if the potatoes were real or not but I found a very hard clump inside and the gravy was terrible. I didn’t even eat it.

Overall dissatisfied and wouldn’t go back.

The potatoes are “smashed “ potatoes with gravy. The clumps are big bits of potatoes, and yes they are real. The lemonade is made from real lemons, with limes and oranges added throughout the year. They also have real blueberry and strawberry lemonade. Filet of ish is a lightly breaded and pan seared “ish” filet with Lettuce, tomato, and vegan tartar sauce.

Thank you for your comment. If you ever choose to take the criticism and apply it to your menu I’d be happy to come back and try you out again.
I’ve been trice now hoping that my first experience was a fluke and my review still stands.

Excellent vegan options

I am a pilot and had a layover in Terre Haute. I decided to try this place and was blown away. Mostly all pastries were vegan (vegan black and white cookies!!). She even gave me a free cookie to try. The falafel platter was excellent as well. I highly recommend trying this place out if you are nearby.

Pros: Mostly all vegan baked goods , Friendly & knowledgeable owner , Fair prices

First Visit

Today I visited Oy Vey for the first time. I got the vegan burrito and it was delicious! On my way out, I asked about pastries and the lady working gave me two free to try! They were both delicious as well! If I could give this local restaraunt 5 stars I would. I will definitely be back!

Oy Vey a Touch of the Holy Land

Driving across country we stopped in for sustenance to drive another 9 hours. It was Sunday around 2pm and there was one other customer. We were treated like family! My son had a meaty sandwich (he’ll come over someday) and chicken soup w matzo balls. I had a Napalese “burrito” with potatoes and tofu and a rich delicious curry sauce. So good! She brought us some frosted spice cake (no charge) and before I could ask said “yes, it’s vegan” with a smile. Loved this place!

Pros: Food is delicious. I had what she gives her boys , Treated like family.

Cons: Ten minutes off the highway.

Oy Vey Jewish Bakery and Deli, is Vegan/Vegetarian!

There are great dishes here! Fresh, organic, vegan soups, salads, main dishes, breads, and desserts and all Vegan/ vegetarian. The concept of Farm to table is taken to the last degree here. All their sauces and dressings are made in house. Breads, cookies, desserts, are made from scratch. Ingredients to everything can be sourced and known as all things are made in house. (Excluding: Coca cola products are offered and not made in house). This is a definite healthy option and a Happy Vegan friendly restaurant!

Pros: Vegan Friendly, Organic, Family owned farm to table

Cons: Not in every city yet!, Can not give 5'stars because meat on premises.

Wonderful food and service

My daughter and I stopped here on a cross country road trip and were so glad we did. The owner was the nicest lady who told us exactly what was vegan. Everything was homemade by her and there were so many options. We had the handmade vegan burger with a side of pasta salad which was so good. The bun on the burger was freshly baked and just added to the overall taste. My daughter had the Dahl soup with her burger and it was delicious. The best part was that the owner, her daughter and another employee came by and talked to us about where we were from and made the meal a memorable experience. We took vegan danishes to go and they were so good we regretted not getting more. If we are ever near Terre Haute again we will definitely stop by. Anyone lucky enough to live close by should frequent this gem of a restaurant.

Holy (happy) cow what a soup selection!

Okay, so it is a deli and most of what they have is meat, but here in the Midwest it's rare to find a dedicated vegetarian restaurant. There are a few vegetarian sandwiches such as tofu and falafel and a veggie burger she makes from scratch. What excited me was that there was a huge selection of soups. When I mentioned I had found the restaurant with Happy Cow, the owner was very helpful and asked whether I was vegan or vegetarian and pointed out the meatless soups for me. She said that she uses a vegan broth for the base for her soups, many of which had no meat, and all of which are made from scratch. I bought two to go and the one I had tonight was absolutely fantastic. I will be back with a cooler my next trip to Terre Haute!! See photo of soup list and menu.

Pros: Huge list of soups, many vegetarian

Best Coffee In Town!

I could talk about their delightful falafel, I could talk about the kind family that runs the place, but no...the best part of this little Kosher Bakery is the Israeli Upside-Down Coffee! It doesn't usually come vegan, but they are more than happy to make it vegan upon request. WOW! Soooo good! If you like coffee, you need this in your life.

Updated from previous review on 2017-12-25

Pros: Great food, Sweet family owners, AMAZING COFFEE

Cons: Limited vegan options (5 or 6 I believe)

OyVey!

Upside down coffee is always vegan. OyVey! Does not have any dairy on the premises. 90% of the menu is Vegan/vegetarian and there is also an ethnic menu inside that serves Jewish/Israeli fare.
