Nice food - Edit

I liked the mushroom pasta and Tum Yum noodle (forgot the exact name of the dish). A suggestion would be that when I ordered the fries which usually came with cheese on top, they told me the vegan version just wouldn't have cheese...but veg grocery store Green Common right next door sells vegan cheese so I think if they really wanted to accommodate vegan customers they could have added that option!

Pros: nice food , cozy environment

Cons: not too many vegan options

Nice place - Edit

Went there yesterday evening with 2 friends. Similarly to the one in Wanchai, the cafe is inside a shop. However in many respects I find the Central outlet (which in fact is in Sheung Wan) much better than the one in WanChai. Main difference is the food. From what I can remember Wanchai has less choice (only went there once a year ago and wasn't much impressed).

We tried some polenta, risotto, soup plus 2 other dishes with eggs for my friends - which they liked. The menue shows what is vegan.

It's not cheap (in total we came out with HKD220 per person, without taking desert), but it was a good meal.

Also like the room and decoration. Staff was nice and helpful. Will come here again as it is close to my work.

Nice, new place in Central - Edit

Recently opened this branch of the OVOcafe in Wan Chai, it's already bustling, especially at lunchtime.

They have a section in which you can reserve tables but, if full, there is a separate section for walk-in diners.

I had the lunch set which consists of a a choice of appetisers - soup of the day or japanese tofu. The dishes weren't large but were tasty.

The lunch set then includes one of 4 choices. My partner had the pasta with "Beyond Beef" though there was little of the beef. He said the pasta was slightly spicy but good.

I had the vegetarian sausage in pastry accompanied with mash potato. The mash was a little runny for my liking but the sausage was quite yummy and had some delicious cooked cherry tomatoes on the side.

Prices range from about HK$70 to $120 plus 10% service charge.

You get 5% off the attached shop items on presentation of the receipt.

Pros: Clean and modern, Lunch sets

Cons: Main and starter come at same time, Slightly rushed

OVOCafe - Des Voeux Rd - Hong Kong - Edit

As per Ovocafe in Wan Chai...

They bill themselves as a lacto vegetarian eatery with some dishes that can be altered to be vegan. In some towns I'd be grateful for that. There's a lot of competition in the vego market in HK though. Thus my preference would be they revised that policy so vegan is the default rather than lacto ovo vego. Other will think differently of course just as people are entitled to.

Pros: Some dishes can be veganised

Cons: Biased towards lacto ovo
