Out-there Artisan - Edit
Delightful café, set in renovated farm buildings on a countryside estate, offers more than just great food. Alongside the café is an adjoining shop filled with eco-conscious and locally sourced products too.
Read moreThere are plenty of scenic walks nearby, and a large play area just across the road for children. The venue and grounds are dog friendly.
The menu is varied with a wide selection of both savoury and sweet options. My first choice had sold out, but I wasn’t disappointed—the ploughman’s flatbread was absolutely delicious. Later, the carrot and pistachio cake proved to be an equally tasty treat.
The staff were so welcoming and helpful. I absolutely loved this place and am already looking forward to my next visit.
Onsite free parking.

A definite recommendation! - Edit
I was so excited to visit here with my family yesterday after seeing all the positive reviews on Happycow and I was not disappointed! This is such a lovely vegetarian café with so many vegan options (there were also lots of gluten-free choices too)! I had a delicious cauliflower katsu burger on beetroot bread, a super green smoothie and a carrot & pistachio cake. All three were fab!
Read moreMy dad had a vegan flatbread (which was SO tempting) with soup which he said were lovely. My mum had a vegan raspberry croissant which she said was nice and that you could really taste the raspberry. (Neither are vegan themselves)
Our dog was allowed inside, which is always a pro for us. The décor was so lovely. (There was also a shop just outside the main seating area which sold lots of veggie and vegan foods alongside toiletries etc.)
This was definitely worth the trip, and I would highly recommend it to anybody nearby or travelling past!
Pros: Tasty food, Dog friendly, lovely atmosphere

We hit the vegan jackpot today when we stopped at this place. Loads of vegan options (maybe more than non-vegan!), and we were really pleased with our choices: katsu curry burger, feta and rocket flatbread, and pea-leek soup.
Read moreAbout 8 cakes on the menu—all vegan! We took a couple of things away for later and then wandered into the Scoopery ice cream shop across the courtyard, where all but 2 of the dozen flavours were vegan. So delicious!
Would definitely make a point of coming here again. ❤️

Now our go-to place in the Borders - Edit
Lovely staff, nice surroundings and fabulous tasty food! It's really good to see people eat there who aren't necessarily either veggie or vegan and discover just how tasty plant based food can be. We've had great savoury dishes and desserts, fab coffee and everything can be made vegan! Just what is needed in the Borders!

Waffles - Edit
My husband and I recently visited and couldn't fault it. The place itself was spotless, well laid out with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was to die for and we were spoilt for choice. We both had the waffles which came well presented and in a timely manner. My husband had the strawberry cheesecake ones and I had the winter special ones. They were so huge that I had to bring some home with me. We are both vegan and despite this being a vegetarian establishment, they will make pretty much anything on the menu vegan for you.

Will definitely come back - Edit
We had a roasted veg salad and a waffle. Both were filling and we felt good value. Salad really hard to eat with wooden cutlery in a cardboard bowl. Top tip: sit indoors if eating food that would need cutting! Wanted to come back later but the internet had gone down and we had no cash. Would like to try cakes and floater! All ice cream is vegan

Fantastic spot! - Edit
Wow. What a great spot! Delicious food, gorgeous setting and lovely staff! Just one minute off the A68 makes it the perfect stop off on a journey north or south! Our new stop for sure! We had the savory waffles, red pepper naanwich, a couple of smoothies and the raspberry pistachio ice cream sandwich. SO good! Very reasonably priced and dog friendly too 💚

Absolutely loved it. Food was superb, chat was friendly and knowledgeable. We sat out on the terrace on a beautifully sunny day and loved the pittas and naan. Would have liked to sample the waffles but simply too full. Fantastic wee place and can’t wait to see what they do in future!
