A vegan restaurant that doesn't use tofu, tempeh or seitan! They use almost solely fresh, organic non-GMO produce fruits and roots from farms and sources in Kauai which means unique and creative dishes. That also means that the nights menu changes often. Sadly I'm only vacationing here and won't be able to enjoy more of the amazing things they do with things like taro, yacon, macadamia nuts and liliquoi. Also a charming cheery room with spirited,knowledgeable and friendly servers.

Ourplace serves the most flavorful and creative meal showcasing fresh and locally sourced farm to table foods. Every dish is unique, beautiful to look at, with flavor and texture explosions in every bite. Their coco-bacon was just incredible. The coco-tails with fruit juices were better than anything I have ever drank. Michael and Kimmy genuinely care about our food, health, and health of our planet. So refreshing to see such commitment, passion and care in this restaurant! We had wonderful experience as a family! Even our 4 yo started to pay attention and was open to try new things, which he never does! If you dine in this restaurant, you aren’t only supporting one local small business but also about dozen of local sustainable farms! Everything made from scratch and freshest local ingredients, with your health and satisfaction in mind! Everything is vegan and GF, yet very tasty and satisfying! Looking at 6 course menu, I expected tiny tapas type portions, but plates came out a decent size and dinner was not only healthful but also very satisfying and filling! We most definitely will be back!!! Best kale salad and enchiladas I’ve had so far! Can’t wait to try their next menu!

Wonderful dining experience. Delicious, nutritious and interesting locally grown food. Great for vegans (and the planet!) and non vegans alike. Very different to anything we have eaten in Hawai'i before. Would love this idea to be replicated closer to home so we could visit more frequently.

The real heroes of today’s world - Edit
We stumbled upon this place while searching for an organic vegan restaurant in Kauai (no, you don’t have many options). This whole experience was simply meant to be. We didn’t know what to expect when we walked in, but luckily we were just in time for one of their two seatings of the evening (always call ahead!). We knew right away when we met Michael that we were in for a show. That’s what they serve here - a culinary show of purely organic, local, gluten free, vegan, heaven food. We were served a four course chef’s menu, which changes weekly.

These folks are the real heroes of today’s world. They simply get it. You won’t find a piece of unnecessary plastic in the place. They compost all the food scraps back with the local farmers where they by the way get all (and I mean all) of their ingredients. Everything gets either eaten or recycled. They are at the forefront of the permaculture revolution and everything they do and make has a meaning. Everything is thoroughly thought through and it reflects in not only the fantastic culinary experience here but also in the magical atmosphere. There’s this good energy floating around and you will feel amazing inside and out when leaving this fabulous place.

Amazing Experience - Edit
Although I have been using Happy Cow for about a year now, I haven't ever felt the need to create an account and write a review. My wife and I have lived in NYC , LA and Melbourne and the meal we had at OurPlace last night was definitely one of, if not the best we have ever had. The food was fresh, vibrant, creative and satisfying. This is a must do for all food lovers!

This place is special, very cozy, only seating two dinner parties per night. (Place can fit 20-30 people). The set menu changes weekly based on what is available at the local farms from the area. Truly the most local taste of Kauai on the island.

Delicious vegan food - Edit
Michael and his team are doing a great job. Their concept (sustainable organic food from local farmers) is worth to be supported. They do "dinner parties" and switch every night the theme. Tonight it was Italian kitchen, a 5-course menue. Michael is full of passion and explained what we were eating and where it came from. The food was excellent and very tasty (gmo-, gluten- and soyfree). The restaurant and atmosphere were really cosy, someone played piano. We had a wonderful evening thanks to Michael and his team.

Best vegan restaurant on Kauai - Edit
Our first meal at OurPlace Kauai was so lovely and delicious that we came back again for more. We now have a standing reservation for dinner every week! The energy of the restaurant is so welcoming and makes you instantly feel at home. The food is lovingly created with organically grown plants exclusively from Kauai, from some of the most amazing organic farms. It feels good to be supporting the future of the island, especially organic farming here on Kauai, while at the same time, eating food that nourishes both your body and soul. The food is so creative and delicious every week. They continue to amaze me with their creations which taste so decadent, yet are so nourishing for your body. Vegans and non-vegans alike will be amazed at the quality and taste of what our beautiful island has to offer.

On paper, the cuisine sounds like a neo-hipster checklist: Hyper-local, organic, vegan, gluten-free cuisine, by reservation only. What you actually get is a creative menu by a talented chef showcasing the island's best produce prepared in ways you've never had.

Things like blackberry jam fruit (yes those are a thing, look them up) to restaurant-style breadsticks made from just-picked ulu (breadfruit) served with taro leaf spread, to house made cold brew cacao milk.
Let me be clear: I like my gluten, and generally don't go out of my way to eat gluten free, but in this case if I wasn't told that every dish sidestepped the bane of celiacs, I wouldn't have noticed. Clever use of ulu to make "breadcrumbs," moringa with plantains for fettuccine noodles and cassava as an apple pie shell were executed so well it's a non-issue.
Do you have to be vegan to enjoy Our Place? Not in the least. I'd treat this like I would Crossroads in Los Angeles or Farm Spirit in Portland: part of the new wave of vegan haute cuisine, suitable for special guests or special occasions regardless of the company. The charming house-style locale and live piano music in the background just complete the picture.
I rank this as my top restaurant -- no, dining experience -- on the island. A must try!

Our server, Michael, gave us ( my girlfriend and her parents (nonvegans)) a fantastic dining experience. He is friendly, knowledgeable and extremely passionate about this farm to table cuisine. All of the foods are local to the island and he was happy to share when and where he got them. There was a great variety of foods and they complimented each other from one course to the next. Everything was flavorful but if I had to choose my favorite part, I'd go with the homemade coconut milk and turmeric (golden elixir). I'm partial to coconuts and have never had homemade coconut milk. It was heavenly. Michael explained it's making process and I'm looking forward to making my own in the near future. He also shared is favorite snorkeling spot which we ventured to the next day. It did not disappoint. We saw lots of sea turtles. I would recommend this place to anyone, even not vegans. You can't beat the food, company, and overall experience. OurPlace is the true definition of Aloha.
