several great vegan options - Edit
two vegan burgers (one beyond, one black bean), and 3 entrees that aren't salads, tofu "wings", options for vegan pizza and added protein on salads. It is also a decent brewery. Great place to bring your non-began friends, too, and prices are fair.

Plenty of choices!!! - Edit
Some other reviews mention there aren’t many choices, but our experience was quite the opposite!

Crispy tofu bowl
Beyond burger (add vegan cheese, bacon, and crispy onions)
Build a pizza with a variety of toppings including vegan mozzarella
Since it’s also a brewery there are tons of locally made beers and even homemade sodas to choose from.

Beyond Burger and few other vegan options - Edit
We chose this place based on an old description that mentioned a portobello burger and a walnut burger. The menu is clearly marked, and I was disappointed in the few vegan options that were available. We got the Beyond Burger. The barbecue sauce was banging, but we aren't wild about Beyond Burgers really. We just weren't in the mood for a soba bowl or a salad. Service was very friendly. No vegan desserts, which... kind of a pet peeve. Truly vegan friendly establishments should offer options in every category. It's weird to ask if we want dessert and then be like, "oh yeah, sorry..." We will likely not revisit.
Read morePros: Friendly service , The barbecue sauce is good
Cons: Very few vegan options , Only vegan sandwich is Beyond Burger, No vegan dessert

Big friendly pub - Edit
We came for snacks and beers. The house salad is huge with spring mix. You can add tofu. Tofu wings are breaded sticks of tofu which look humble and are tasty. I will get the soba noodles next time. The walnut burger is gone. I was hoping to get that on my salad. Several dressings are vegan. Super friendly service. V on the menu means vegan. VG means vegetarian. I wish these codes were universal, lol, since places handle them differently. Lots of parking available.

Good - Edit
I had the soba noodles with added tofu…very good. There weren’t a lot of choices, but I was pleased with what I ate. This is clearly a popular place in town… had to wait about a half hour to get a table and it was somewhat noisy.

Excellent! - Edit
Several vegan options. Had the Cowgirl Burger (impossible burger) which was amazing! And they even cooked it separate away from the meats when I asked. 😁 Tofu wings were so yummy!! Great service!!! Would give ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ if this allowed me.

wide variety of options, a bit pricey tho - Edit
i’ve been to otto’s a few separate times and have never had a bad experience! their tofu “wings” are offered with a choice of a vegan sauce (though i can’t be sure if they’re fried in the same oil as meat). their vegan burger was amazing and they do a great job of keeping a rotating list of veg/vegan specials!

Vegan Chili yes on the menu! - Edit
After hearing from people that Otto's had vegetarian food, we decided to give it a try. We were so impressed with the menu. There were several options for VEGANS!! I am so sorry I didn't stop before now. The chili was amazing. In fact, we bought 2 containers to go for later. Can't wait to go again!

Actual vegan options - Edit
One of the better (only) places locally that labels vegan. But waitress told me the fries are cooked in same oil as chicken so offered to swap them for green beans. Burger and chilli was good - nothing special but great for this area. Recommend. Also they had lots of vegan and veggie specials as it was a Wednesday

Quite a few vegan options - Edit
One of the central PA tasting passport stops for us. Needed a bite and had the pretzel and the tofu wings. Pretzel was amazing with very spicy (think wasabi) dipping sauce. The wings were completely tasteless and could have been deep fried longer for more crisp. The dipping sauce saved the tofu wings for sure.

Fair options for a non veg place - Edit
I was impressed by the options for a non veg place. The Asian salad was tasty but there is absolutely nothing done to the tofu so the taste can be blend if you add tofu as your protein. Price was decent and staff was friendly. Be careful ordering the fried pickles, they are not very tasty and they come with a honey mustard sauce which isn’t label as such!

The vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu and there are plenty. - Edit
I especially like the soba noodle bowl with black bean burger on top. But it can be expensive and they can get very crowded on weekends.

Vegetarian/Vegan Day - Edit
I didn’t know until about a year ago that they offered Vegetarian/Vegan specials on Wednesday! They have been pretty tasty and they offer Vegan Cheese, but most regular menu dishes need to be altered when ordering to make them truly Vegan!!

Depends on the day - Edit
If you go on the vegetarian day it will be awesome. Haven’t been there in a while, but they tend to have a couple options no matter what. You can always make your own vegan burger.

Options, but not the best execution - Edit
Lots of Vegan menu items, some better than others, but a great casual place for ALL to dine.
Read moreI know Verve Cafe has been all the rage lately for the vegan scene, but Otto's has really stepped up their game in the past few months. They had a handful of vegan options, from soups to their soft pretzel app, onion rings, some salads, a couple sandwiches, and even an entree dish.
I chose to go with the tofu wings and the cashew and grain veggie burger. Both items weren't out of this world, but they also we're terrible by any means. The peanut sauce for the "wings" which seemed like tempura battered tofu, was very good. The flavor profile of the burger was very light, honestly lacking any sort of defining taste. The meal was healthy and filling, but didn't make me crave either dish.
Always friendly staff and a great drink menu. Thanks Otto's!
Pros: Choices, Fun atmosphere for sports
Cons: Average meal

Definitely will go back, would recommend for vegans and vegetarians - Edit
This is a really nice restaurant. They have a surprising number of vegan and vegetarian options, and the service is excellent. There is a large bar and overall good atmosphere. The whole place is clean and the bathrooms are nice as well. They even have outside seating. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. I had a vegan supreme pizza which only cost me $6.36 including tax for a decent sized pizza (about the size of a frozen pizza you would buy at the grocery store). The food was good and everyone who went were satisfied with their meal.

Many vegan and vegetarian options - Edit
My husband and I ate there this evening. There were several vegan and vegetarian options-- more than any other restaurant in the area (except Cafe Verve of course). We had the black bean Burger which was pretty good, and cleary home made. I wanted to try the vegan chocolate dessert, but they were out! Waitress said it is very popular. I'd like to go again and try their vegan pizza.

it's fine - Edit
I've had pretty much everything I can eat at Otto's, besides the Wednesday specials, which are never the same. Taking the entire menu into account, there are more vegan options than at many other restaurants, but it's still only a handful of items. I've gotten pizza there, since they have vegan cheese, but to be honest...I can make better pizza at home. The fries are great, and so is the chili. The cashew burger could use some improvement; it always falls apart. The food is good, but I've had it all already. There are PLENTY of vegetarian options, but most contain milk, so there's no way to substitute anything in them. I should just plan to only go on Wednesdays.

I'm incredibly happy that a place like Otto's exists... they have vegan appetizers and entrees clearly marked, and the food is delicious. The staff is friendly and willing to help you out, meanwhile it's usually pretty lively and the atmosphere is fun. It's basically my favorite restaurant to go to in the State College area if you want a meal that satisfies you!
