Feels as if you are dining in a cosy home! - Edit
Otra Cosa has got several great veggie options, some vegan options. The best deal you can get there is the daily menu. They have excellent coffees ("real" coffee!) and make a wicked Dutch apple pie. Prices are reasonable, most mains are around S/15 (about U$5) and the atmosphere is just great. Owners are lovely and if you are Dutch make sure to let the owner (Berry) know because so is he, and he loves to chat Dutch for a bit :) If you are with a group and you want anything special, make sure to contact them about it before hand and they can arrange it for you.

Choose falafel or buritto - Edit
"Falargofel" wich consisted of 5 falafel balls, guacamole, some bread and salad for 26 soles was ok, although i would prefer more flavour (felt like no spuces, even salt, pepper)

The restaurant is right at the beach and thus has an amazing view and the food is good, not everything is vegan but I loved the beetroot soup they have as lunch offer, o delicious!

Good food, good price, limited vegan options - Edit
There's nothing on the menu that is labeled specifically vegan, but must of the menu is vegetarian. It's easy enough to order dishes made vegan, but knowing Spanish is a must as the menu is only in Spanish.

Really good food - Edit
OK, this place isn't 100% vegetarian or vegan but there are plenty of choices there. I had the meal of the day which costs 17 soles in February 2022. It included a glass of fresh fruit juice, a bowl of squash soup and the main plate with a mixed veggie and cheese calzone and a potato beet carrot salad. The food was far superior to anything I got in a vegetarian or vegan restaurant in the city of Trujillo. If you are visiting this area of peru, you should go down to Huanchaco Beach anyway, and definitely make this your place to eat lunch for that day. Believe me, the food is much much better here than in the city of Trujillo. My friend got the falafel sandwich which also is very tasty.

A bit disappointing - Edit
We went there to finally get some Falafel but we were told that the garlic sauce is not vegan. I got a mustard sauce which was the highlight but the three falafels came with a really dry bread a bit of tomatoes and lettuce without any spices or flavor. The three falafel were good but it was not filling with the rest of the meal and they were more expensive than the vegan lentil burger which was a lot more food. The burger was also dry but we ordered more of the mustard sauce so it was okay. The view from the terrace to the ocean was nice and the owner from the Netherlands friendly. He knows at least what it means to be a vegan and tried his best to prepare the food (needed a long time because he was alone). All in all I can’t really recommend this place but there are few alternatives…

Great food - Edit
The quality of the food is great and portions are good. The fallafel plate that comes with amazing fries and salad is a very filling meal indeed, and my partner loved the burrito.
Read moreAs others have mentioned - it is a bit more expensive than some of the cheapest restaurants around. But I found the service to be great, super friendly in fact, and the food to be worth it.
If you're in the area for a few nights give it a try!

Not that worth it - Edit
The owner is really friendly. But all in all you have to wait a long time. I went here twice. The burrito in vegan is with cucumber and not really worth it for the money. Wouldn't recommend it for vegans.

delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner! - Edit
We went there on our first day in Huanchaco and ended up back there almost every day. The falafels and burritos are amazing and you get such big portions! We also had breakfast there which was really reasonably priced... we had eggs, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. They also do a yummy chocolate brownie.

not a lot of vegan choices but it's on seafront ! - Edit
After discussion with the staff, it remains that the only vegan possible plates (with arrangements) is the falafels and the burritos. Nothing is indicated on the menu for vegans (and not all ingredients are precised).
Read moreThe smoothies were served warm (might be more peasant with ice in a city where it's common to find 30°C)
It's better to be clear about what you eat or not !
But the staff was helpful and the ambience was pleasant.
The falafels themselves weren't amazing. The problem is that they served them without the sauce (containing mayonesa).
Pros: seafront, atmosphere
Cons: warm smoothies, very few vegan choices, no desserts

Best place for pancakes and apple pie - Edit
Berry runs Otra Cosa with his wife Milagros. They are the kindest people, wanting to accommodate their guests in any way possible. They still offer pretty much what others reviewers are mentioning here like burritos, falafel but I also saw a couple of nice-sounding salads on the menu like a Greek salad and one with carrot and beets. My personal favorites at Otra Cosa: pancakes and apple pie.

An ok place - Edit
If you're a vegan I recommend asking about each ingredient that goes in each dish. I ordered a burrito so asked only about cheese and any kind of cream and she said no, but it came with mayo. It's hard to make oneself understood of what vegan means in Peru.

Good food! - Edit
This place is nice with a good atmosphere and right on the beach! They food is good, but a little strange. They have falafel served on a hamburger bun with a cream sauce (made from milk so order it without!) and no hummus. They also have interesting and good vegan burritos. The daily set meal could not be made vegan the day we were there, and they did speak English. It's a little expensive, but the food was good!
