I Love Othello’s! - Edit
The restaurant is super clean, bright, great music was playing when I stopped by for lunch. It’s been open for a while but I just found out about it &!decided to give it a try. So glad I did! We ordered the pulled pork and spicy chicken sandwiches, both on pretzel buns. Both were awesome! We also got tastes of the chili and spaghetti sauce, which were delicious. We will definitely be coming back often and bringing our animal loving friends with us!

I wish I lived closer. This house made meatloaf tastes like what my mom made for the family back in the day. The texture is perfect and there are lots of carrots, onions and other veggies and has an amazing sauce baked on. The garlic mashed potatoes were supper creamy and loaded with garlic and the broccoli was well seasoned. The other master piece was the Ultimate Fries/Tots with the mob chili’s onions, cheese and vegan spread. Definitely coming back when I’m in town and recommend for anyone who might doubt how good vegan food is.

The food, the atmosphere the owner, the whole place is a perfect 10. My son ordered the lasagna and said it was amazing. I had the chilli spaghetti and it was remarkable. The seasoning and the flavours are reminiscent of home cooking and are absolutely fantastic. You have to go!

Othello’s is a welcome addition to this side of town. Especially since the local Veggie Grill location shut down this spot fills the absence with their own list of exciting menu items. The chili cheese burger with a pretzel bun hit the spot and I really enjoyed their house chili. The fries were seasoned well and served crispy just how I like it!

A gem in a plaza in Woodland Hills, this is a good place to satisfy your vegan fast food cravings. It’s fast food without compromising flavor and quality. The recommended vegan cheeseburger with pretzel bun was good. They use follow your heart cheese and their vegan sauce is like a thousand island flavor. The fries were crispy and buttery tasting, which I appreciate. If you don’t want the vegan/fake meats they have other alternatives like jackfruit and black bean patty, which I will be back to try next time.

It’s a nice place to have near your house. We usually come to eat at the restaurant but it’s also a good place to order from. I had the Chili fries and steamed broccoli and my wife ordered the bean burger in a pretzel bun and mash potato. Everything we ordered was good.

I loved the freshness of the decor. My bean burger was delicious, it came between two pieces of bread, which I preferred, rather than having it in a bun, you can taste better the bean burger itself too. Fries were lovely and crispy and I also had their coleslaw, which was tasty. The Green smoothie I would also definitely recommend as well. I will definitely revisit. I would also like to mention Julia was so lovely, great customer service with great recommendations from Julia also.

A very welcome addition to this side of the valley, especially since Veggie Grill on Topanga closed. Super nice people, clean as a whistle, and reasonably priced compared to other places we typically grab lunch (the portions aren't ridiculously oversized, which helps keep the cost down).
Read moreI have questions, though. I sense a kind of identity crisis. Is it fast food? Yes, it has the standard Beyond burgers and a chicken sammich, but also lasagna and pasta. So it's Italian? No, there's also enchiladas and a home-style meatloaf dinner, and you can get chili on basically everything. So, is it comfort food? Not exactly, because there's a healthy spin, and smoothies too.
Speaking of the chicken sandwich, it needs an actual fried patty instead of 'tenders,' needs an upgrade in toppings (how about cole slaw, since you already have it?), and needs to be spicy if we're calling it "spicy chicken." There are some great hot chicken sammies in town, Nashville style or otherwise, so what's the Othello riff on it? Why is an Othello chicken sandwich something I should crave more than those others?
And that's the point. I think they have an opportunity to be great, but can a small, new, quick-serve restaurant be great at everything all at once? Can things be streamlined so everything on the menu says exactly what the brand is about, and the brand's song is sung loud and clear? And are enough people ordering chili over rice to justify making rice fresh every day??
They get an extra star for earnestness, and to inspire them to work on the brand concept a little more so the customer understands it.

Went in for a bite because it was a new vegan restaurant and I was in the area. So glad I did! Everyone was very nice and the food was delicious and filling. Highly recommend the Othello's Ultimate Fries. The meatloaf was also very good with the mashed potatoes and broccoli. I'll have to make another trip back that direction to try everything else! Woodland Hills and Calabasas friends: please keep eating here to give this place lots of success!

Read moreAvery was at the counter and Chef Gene came out to meet me. I work for HappyCow and I gave them an 'excellent reviews' window decal and a bunch of our little stickers for them to give to their customers.
I ordered the fried chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun and chili cheese fries. Normally I do not eat comfort food but I wanted to give it a try and I loved it. I took most of it home and had it for dinner so it was enough for two meals!
Do your stomach a favor and go in for a meal or a snack or a drink! You will not be sorry… the effect will be just the opposite!
