The best lasagne! - Edit
I love it here. The lasagne is my favourite but all their pastas are so tasty. The pistachio gelato is also delicious.

Lovely Italian restaurant - Edit
Ortica is one of my favourite restaurants in Greater Manchester. Great food and super friendly staff. They used to serve amazing pinsa which now have been replaced by pasta dishes. They probably make the best espresso martini I've ever had! Pistachio gelato is great as well!

Amazing, well worth a visit - Edit
An absolute gem 2 mins walk from Urmston Railway station, well worth a trip. Has a little shop selling genuine Italian products such as Beers and Pasta at reasonable prices. Urmston town centre is a thriving area with lots of shops and restaurants, good charity shops too!
Read moreThe restaurant is so great, so much choice and great to know I can choose any item, making it so hard to choose! I have to go back any try the other items.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming and there is a great atmosphere. The food was so tasty and beautifully presented and very generous portions too.
I had a pea and butternut squash pasta with walnuts (£14.50, Calamarate piselli) and the sour cherry sorbet (£3.00). Both so tasty.
Dog friendly too.

Amazing Vegan Italian food! - Edit
I've been coming to Ortica regularly for a few years now and it's one of the best restaurants in Manchester and almost certainly the best vegan restaurant - I highly recommend it. I've brought my carnivorous/omnivorous friends and family there many times and they've also all been blown away, so if you're not a veggie/vegan and are thinking that this restaurant might not be for you then you're missing a trick. The owners are all Italian and are clearly very passionate about their food. The focacia and bruschetta starters are amazing and the pasta and gnochi mains are extremely tasty. The "parmesan" and "mozarella" they use are indistinguishable from real cheese, and their tiramisu is one of the best in Manchester (both vegan and non-vegan) that I've tried. My wife is Italian and is very fussy about her Italian food and she loves the place even more than me.
Read moreThe venue has a very chilled out vibe and if I lived in Urmston then I'd definitely be popping in just to enjoy a drink even if I didn't fancy a meal - they serve Baladin beers which are some of the nicest Italian beers in my opinion.and they have a great wine menu.
Also, they are very dog friendly! We pretty much always take our two small dogs with us and the staff are always fussing over them and giving them treats.
If you haven't been then do yourself a favour and take yourself, your friends and your dogs to Ortica!
Pros: Dog friendly!, They use great vegan cheeses - amazing permesan!

Best vegan food ever! - Edit
I can't even begin to describe how delicious the food is at Ortica. And no, not "just" for vegan standard - it really is far superior to some of the best italian restaurants. We had the Bruschetta Fave & 'Nduja and the Focaccia for starters - both absolutely divine! I've now been several times and tried most of the pasta dishes - all amazing but my favourite is definitely Orecchiette ai Broccoli and Paccheri alla Norma - I'm Sicilian and I can attest this is probably among the best pasta alla Norma I've had in my life! The Lotus cheesecake and the Tiramisù are out of this world - absolutely mind blowing! And I've finally found a vegan pistachio gelato that does actually taste like pistachio!
Read moreThe staff is also extremely welcoming and accommodating - we regularly bring our dogs and they're always very thoughtful about the table the select for us, making sure we've got enough space for them and they're always spoilt with treats and cuddles. A definite 100 out of 10 for me!
Pros: Orecchiette ai broccoli, Paccheri alla norma, Cheesecake

Delicious! - Edit
We popped in as we were in the area and we're so glad we found this place! The deco and ambience was chilled and the food was delicious. We had the lasagne and olive focaccia which was the tastiest I've had. The service was great too - they made a plate of plain pasta for my picky 6 year old and brought him a colouring book which was a lovely touch. We'll definitely return and would highly recommend.

Absolutely divine - Edit
I was in the neighbourhood and nipped in to see if they could do me a takeaway. I ordered a pinsa and took it to the park. Mushrooms, potato and truffle cream... it was delicious!! The staff were so warm and friendly. I sat at a table outside in the sunshine and they brought me a glass of iced water while I waited. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant even if you're not in the area. I'll be going back with friends and dining in next time.

Well worth the trip - Edit
Ortica is slightly off the beaten track, but easy to get to via public transport (eg bus 23 from the Trafford centre/Didsbury/Chorlton/Stockport runs within a few minutes away). Urmston station is also very closely.
Read moreWe booked on a cold Wednesday evening with friends; you have to put a £10 per person deposit down when pre-booking which is very sensible given its a small business so no-shows are very costly.
We were warmly welcomed and our food arrived in a timely manner. Aside from the usual menu there were some specials as well (we tried a few of them). I loved the vibe in the restaurant - it would make a nice place for a special date night meal as well as a great place for families and friends too.
The pizza was delicious - the vegan cheese was really melty (my kids are sometimes a bit funny about vegan cheese but they loved this one). The portions were enormous - we ended up taking some of our pizza home (I think on reflection our kids could have shared or a half price kids option on the menu would have been good). The fava bean starter was absolutely delicious.
The portions were so huge that we couldn't manage a dessert sadly - they did look yummy though.
It did take a bit of time to locate the menu (it was on google but my phone/computer didn't immediately who this ) - putting it on instagram and Facebook would be an easy fix.
We visit Manchester regularly and hope to visit again when we next are in this neck of the woods. Highly recommended.
Pros: Authentic & lovely staff, Delicious tasty food, Huge portions
Cons: Maybe a half price kids option on the menu, please add the menus onto Facebook and instagram
