I should have listened to the owner - Edit
The owner tried to sell us one fried rice cake and one fried taro. I only got the rice cake because I had a big dinner, then came back to the hotel. It turned out to be so tasty and chewy I regret not getting more. Listen to the owner when he tries to sell you two instead of one.

Came here for the white sugar rice cake and it did not disappoint! We had one with sesame and it was so delicious. If you like me love rice cakes, and love fried food, and love sesame. Well.. you really can’t go wrong.
Read moreThey actually have a bunch more stuff they sell, but most of it was gone by the time we visited (7.30 pm, Tuesday) and anyways we mostly wanted to try the rice cake. But they had some stuff with taro, with sweet potato. The line can be long but moves fast.

I had the savoury turnip cake and the sweet rice cake. Both were very well deep fried. Surprisingly not too oily, if I can even say that about deep fried food 😅

Night market vegan option - Edit
Well-fried fried rice cake, better than the one up the street. This stall has been around for at least 60 years! I haven’t tried their other offerings, but I can vouch for how soft and chewy the sticky rice in the fried rice cake is. I opted for them to roll mine in peanut powder, which was a tasty addition.
