A very welcome find in the area - Edit
Small but very tasty cafeteria-like selection of vegan foods. Unimposing space but the food was very good. The entrance is around the corner from the listed address and you will have to press the door bell for admittance.

Delicious - Edit
Took four of my non-vegan friends here and we all loved it. While they have a small menu, their food was all vegan and delicious. My friends even told me that if I decide to come back to invite them. Me and one of my friends had a vegan lasagna that was the best I’ve ever had (vegan or non-vegan) and a vegetable rice. The rest chose a pasta with mest substitutes. All of us had some type of mashed potato-type vegetable that was also delicious and salad that came with the main dish. None of us paid more than $11.00, and we all left full and satisfied. Definitely recommend it to anyone (vegan or not) in the area.

Welcoming lunch spot with tasty food - Edit
Visited Ponce for the first time and had a great meal here! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, even offering small quantities of several dishes for us to taste, so we could choose which we liked.
Read moreI got the tofu "parmigiana," yellow rice with vegan chorizo topped with beans, tofu scramble, and sweet plantain dessert, plus a bottle of water. They were also offering a chilled bean salad, plantain boats filled with seitan chicken and vegan cheese, quinoa with mushrooms, and pasta salad today. It came to around $15 per person, which I think is very reasonable for a huge quantity of food that was very filling. I had to ask for a box to carry away leftovers!
HappyCow has the hours wrong; It should be Mon-Fri until 3 pm. Since it is cafeteria style, you'll have a better variety of options if you arrive earlier. We got there close to 1 pm and a couple dishes were already finished, but the majority were still available. Overall, I loved it!
Pros: Exclusively vegan, Variety of dishes; ability to pick and choose seve, Location near town center
Cons: If you arrive late, less dishes are available

Best place in Ponce. - Edit
This wonderful place is right on the corner intersection. Door is marked with organic and vegan. They will buzz you in and upon entering you'll be surprised to see how spotless it is inside. Origen offers a full hot food bar spread where you can pick and choose your options. I slammed a quinoa with beans, vegan chicken protein and salad. Did a side of taro root and a la croix seltzer. Reasonable price especially if you're vegan and on the hunt for a great meal on the south coast. Owner was super friendly and delightful to be around. Will come again every time!

Vegan Oasis in Paradise - Edit
I found Origen via this website on a drive across the island from San Juan to Rincón. It was the perfect spot to stop for lunch. I called ahead (as the review says to do!) and the owners were very friendly. We were arriving on the later side (around 3:00) and they wanted to ensure that there would be food for us when we arrived. When we got there, we were having a bit of trouble finding the location and they were also super helpful. The food was awesome even though we were sort of getting the leftovers. I had a some sort of veggie loaf with rice and beans, a delicious mushroom dish, a lovely green salad with fresh carrot and beet, some yuca, and even tried the chia seed pudding. Everything was good and it was refreshing to be in a restaurant that actually cares about vegan since I have found that many restaurants say they have vegan or vegetarian options when really, they do not care at all about serving vegans. This place is authentic and they CARE. The folks are sweet as can be. The only improvement that I would like to see is the use of real plates and forks vs plastic. Not sure what the reasoning is behind it but that would bring it up a notch for me. Still, I am giving them the highest rating because I adore them and the food was delicious. I am looking forward to going here again during a busy lunch time. Thank-you, Origen!
