Vegan dessert for the win

You ever have the feeling before a meal at an Asian fusion type restaurant where you want protein and to be healthy so you think “edamame” but you also want a bit of greasy goodness so you think “spring roll?” Here they have rolled up edamame (6-8 each) into tiny spring rolls! Just what you are imagining. No additional flavors - but different. Gyoza ok. Crispy Chickn roll also ok. I had a plum drink which was unfortunately forgettable.

But then - dessert. So often I look longingly at the shiny beautiful desserts with a heavy heart because they are never vegan. But here - chocolate shell with coconut mousse and tropical fruit - such a wow. Split one as they are very rich - but delicious and such a treat. 4 stars for dessert alone.

So good - I thought passionfruit but apparently “Malibu pineapple” - regardless dark chocolate shell with coconut mousse and the tropical filling was so delicious! at Origami - Napier in Napier

Crispy Chickn roll - purple rice; avocado; something on top. Filling; tasty; not life-altering at Origami - Napier in Napier

Gyoza. Meh at Origami - Napier in Napier

Edamame spring rolls - cute, unique, not a flavor sensation at Origami - Napier in Napier +1

Delicious and a vegan dessert that isn’t a sorbet!

So many vegan options to choose from and really nice to have a “fried chicken” protein option and a real dessert. The green curry ramen was incredible!

Pros: A real dessert, Fried chicken protein option, Excellent location

Wonderful food

We discovered Origami during the art deco festival 2024. Fortunately they had tables, because shortly after we arrived they were completely packed!

The service was fantastic, even with how busy they were. There was an array of vegan options and plenty of choices. The food was delicious and the vibe of the restaurant completely matched the festivities around it. A wonderful place with fantastic food and really lovely service, I highly recommend.

Pros: Not too expensive, Good vegan options, Delicious food

Cons: I wish I could eat more 🤪
