My best yaki "tori" 's restaurant!🌱

They all great vegan meal!
It's a little expensive for yakitori.
But it's worth it!✨🌱💚

Wonderful

Delicious veganised versions of some Japanese classics - tried the omurice this time but looking forward to going back for the katsudon!

Pros: lots of vegan options

Cons: a little expensive, reservation and menu preselection required

Some Delicious Veganized Dishes, but Also Some Missteps

Read more in this vegan Nagoya guide: https://itravelforveganfood.com/vegan-nagoya-guide/

Oribio is a vegetarian restaurant that has successfully veganized a few traditional Japanese meat dishes, like a katsu bowl with vegan egg. However, there are some underwhelming dishes as well.

The highlight of the meal is this katsu cutlet bowl with vegan tofu egg and burdock. They replicate the egg pretty perfectly using ‘yuba’ which is tofu skin. The texture is soft and melty, just like a runny egg that you’d expect to see in a rice bowl like this. The katsu is also well-made with crispy crust and meaty texture.

Another dish is this omelette rice. Ask for the vegan version of this. It also uses soft tofu skin as the omelette part, covering white rice. The sauce is a basic tomato sauce. Overall it’s not as flavorful as the katsu bowl.

For dessert and drink, I’d recommend a pass if you are not really craving for them. The chocolate cake is average and the blood orange juice tastes pretty bad like a cough drink.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the food doesn’t come out fast. So allocate more time if you plan to go.

Pros: Katsu cutlet bowl is great, Friendly service

Cons: Some dishes are underwhelming, Waiting time for food is quite long

Great vegetarian food

The owners explained their menu from the start that they are meat free, seafood free and egg free. Some dishes contain dairy but that too can be arranged. Love their menu.

Pros: Tasty variety of foods

Cons: Getting there(Nagoya branch)

one of my fav in Nagoya!

If you are looking for a fine cuisine in Nagoya, this is it. Although they use a bit of MSG, I can tell it is to the minimum, and the food feels clean. (I’m quite picky when it comes to quality of food!)
Some foods do not use any MSG, so you can also request your order to be without it.

Everything I had was of a top quality like what you would get from ryotei in Kyoto.

I def recommend you trying this restaurant when you are in Nagoya!

Vegan sushi

It's the night before my marathon and I was craving for carbohydrates. This place is a bit far from my hotel and I came here all the way by taxi. I am happy that I met the English-speaking staff who is dining with her family here. I was able to talk to the staff to have more information. The menu is with photos and there are labels to tell whether it contains dairy. So it's easy to understand what they are.

I ordered vegan sushi and a ramen. The ramen is in thick miso soup. I love the texture of the ramen. It's chewy. The vegan sushi takes much more time. The vegan sushi set is with 8 pieces (4 kinds and 2pcs each). There are konjac sushi (like squid), avocado, tomato and grilled eggplant. Very delicious.

There is also a little shop here selling vegetarian / vegan stuff. They have their own brand of noodles and soy meat to sell.

Pros: Great food, Menu with pictures

Cons: Location is not so convenient
